So is this a 1980 or a 1983 or a 1969. Add says 1980 and then says its an 83 and then it's titled as a 1969. Very basic dash for an 83.

Interesting. Do you have any formal documentation that you can post as a pdf? I've never seen one of these before.

Blizzard

We have two Blizzards. This one is a 1983, and so is the other one we have.
Ebay will not take a gray market car that is over 1980 with a gray market chassis number. So that is why it says 1980 on ebay. When it was imported in 1991. It was imported as a 1969 into California. So on the title it is a 1969.

But the actual car is indeed a 1983 model year Toyota LD10 FJ22 Blizzard with L Series Hilux 2.1 Diesel.

The Wiki for the Blizzard is a bit off base, but not totalle. They are a combination of the Daihatsu Taft, made in Japan since 1974 and redesigned and re-packaged knock down components from the BJ40.

The nice thing about the Japanese sold versions, which are the most rare of the bunch, are that they were given a once over at Toyota before they went to the Toyota dealers in Japan.

The fit and finish on these little trucks is actually excellent, and I would put it right on par with the BJ40 that we have here in quality of build.

There was some notes previously about these having welded rear diffs, which is not true, the diffs are standard issue open diffs, and they look very much like shrunken down BJ40 axles/diffs.

yep...looks like a Dihatshu Rocky to me.

ummm, rocky's are gassers and blizzards are diesel.
yes, the next generation Blizzard after yours.

FJ22 Blizzards For Sale

The FJ22/LD 10 Blizzard Diesel Convertible has been sold, and we are happy that we got many bidders, but that a local buyer in Marin bought it cash and will keep it here local and drive it often. This was the only original convertible Blizzard in North America.

Our second FJ22 is now on ebay, it is only slightly less rare. There are 3 of these known in North America. It is the hardtop Deluxe. It is also all original except a moderate suspension lift and aftermarket wheels/tires. This one is out of the Australian market, but has been in the USA since the early 1990's. It is CA legal, titled, registered. 36mpg on current tires, 44mpg on stock tires!!
