The next part of last weeks build-a-palooza!!!

Rear 100 series bumper with storage, battery box, winch, and dual carriers!

Mike has been working on this for the last 4 months for me. The bumper storage is designed for all the dirty stuff I always should carry (strap, axe, shovel, etc) that I don't want in the truck.

The driver swing out will have a ladder for roof access and carrie some rotopax fuel cells.

The battery is a Die Hard Platinum 34M (Odyssey) that will be charged with a Solar Panel under my rack and power my rear accessories, lights, and fridge/freezer.

The rear winch is more to show what can be done but the mount and fairlead came out great!

And yes, I know I melted my trailer harness by not zip tieing it up well enough before my 1000 mile drive home

Well it looks pretty, but an unprotected battery under the rear of a truck.

Yeah, that will work, until you do your first real offroading.

Once again, mike turns out good stuff! I'm sure there will be added protection for the battery in the next design!

It does look pretty doesn't it:)

The battery is higher than both the winch mount plate and the fairlead. Which were both designed to be inside the departure angle of the truck. The only way I'll hit it is if I back up onto a rock that is narrower than half the truck... I guess I could spit something up there.

I'll have a solid top plate welded up that will bolt to the existing battery box. Easy fix.

Thanks for the observation

Can you get some better pictures of the winch setup? Im assuming the rear crossmember is gone, correct?

Also, why no tow points on the bumper?

with storage bins and a winch I don't see how the rear cross member would be there.

Needless to say, my rear cross member is coming off in 5 days :D

That means 4x4 labs or BIOR:clap:

the crossmember is gone, the front tow points have been replaced with receiver's so I can put a bumper mount motorcycle carrier on the front. It won't fit on the rear with the tire carier. I put shackles in the receivers so for all intensive purposes I have very useful tow points :)

Nice bumper! I really like the rear winch, but agree that you should probably try to get the battery up above the frame rails.

edit: Just saw the above post. That's OK, makes it less of an issue, though again, we're talking about something explosive. A nice thick skid plate would probably be fine.

Very unique bumper. I like it.

As others have said, maybe an actual tray/skid plate for the battery wouldn't hurt. Sort of like Metal Tech's 80 slider, which has add-on skid plate/tray for extra battery.

Also, might just be the pic but does that fairlead bracket look a lil flimsy? I see on the backside that it looks to be welded sufficiently but I can just imagine that part crashing down on a rock and...crack.

Everything else looks awesome and super durable.

I think the trailer hitch should be moved down and the fairlead moved up into the bumper. I hate to criticize this bumper as it's probably the best "optionized" bumper. But there is a few things I would change.

The fairlead mount is made from 3/8 steel. It's reinforced with some bends as well. I really didn't want to go any lower with it, As it sits, It has ~3" ore clearance than my old Slee and is much more suited to my needs.

I'll post up some full truck pics manana. The trim trim rings for the wheels are being powder coated "obnoxious green" as well.

The reason I commented is because I have a Long Ranger fuel tank under the back of my truck with a large dint in just about exactly the place your extra battery sits.

I got the dint during a river crossing when the rear left tyre slipped off a river rock to the left, so that the rock banged directly on the corner of the tank. The whole crossing was rocks, so I had no chance to avoid driving over them. Thankfully those Long Ranger tanks are tough, and it still hasn't developed a leak. I just lost half a litre or so of fuel capacity.

You are welcome by the way. :)

The bumper is a prototype for Mike so I do appreciate your input.

The shell minus the storage will be the shell for his bolt on, leave the crossmember 100 series bumper.

the benefit of doing this through Mike at Bump It is that the entire thing is custom and he can work with you to get you exactly what you want. I wanted to do ladders on the side and they were gonna look dumb and hang out past the mirrors so we are doing it on the back. I really wanted the extra storage and he did a lot of work to make it happen.
