Need some input. UC is in the market for a new shelter to buy. Our last popup finally bit the dust. Flying off the side of a mountain didn't help it. I like the idea of the popup tent but it will have to be heavy duty. Plus it need to be bigger than 10x10. I was thinking of going with a pole type system. We use one for my BBQ events. It's virtually indestructable. Just not as portable. BUt that got me thinking beside Cullowhee we never move this thing around from place to place it usally stays put during events. SO if you have some ideas post them up. Or if you have a connection where we could get something let me know.

GA Cruisers uses a portable drive bay thing. It is like a pole system with canvas on top that is used as a parking spot in a lot of places...they just pile it in a pickup and use it at events.

There's a thread over in Outfitting right now and another recent thread in Chat discussing "family tents." Springbar tents was mentioned and I did some more research and Springbar gets awesome reviews all over the net. USA-made and located in Utah. I even read tales of Springbar repairing 20 and 30-yr-old tents.
I don't own one nor have I ever seen one in person, but it's on my "get one at some point" list.

FYI, Costco has a nice 4 sided parking car port thing with a vented top, multiple doors, etc for less than $200.

Looks like I will picking up this, this week. Should have it for URE. Looks big but the side extensions can be used as walls.

Yeah that is the one from SAM's club it's about 200 bucks I think..... we bought one a couple of years ago when I had roommates and we used it a lot for tailgates. Old roommate has possession of it.

Ordered canopy today. I do not think it will arrive by friday for URE so I will bring the other small popup canopy we have along with some duct tape and some sticks it should work fine.

Uses.

I just saw a CHEAP 10x10 canopy at the $10 store in Pickens.
It had full screening and was $25. I might pick it up as a donation
to the club. Maybe a place to stash prepared food away from the
bugs. Heck if it blows away......no big loss. :grinpimp:
I'll pick it up tomorrow. If someone swings by before the URE trip
it will be available.
