i was cruising mud this morning and saw a post from a fellow mudder. Saw that his vacuum line tree on the intake manifold was leaking and thought "oh yeah so is mine." Went to the parts store and $4 later it is capped and the motor is running remarkably smoother. Bad thing about it is that micheal dennis showed this to me at the last run i attended up on the parkway. I totally forgot all about it.

If you need the vacuum spaghetti, I've got one I'm about to put in the trash.

Hey Carp did you desmog your 60? If so where did you get your plugs for the engine?

My rig was already desmogged when i bout it. Dude and i just didn't know to plut the tree i guess.

jim c has all the parts needed to desmog,, the allen key head plugs and air filter housing pipe caps, and thermostat plugs,,, depending on the year motor I want to say his "kit" is $15...shipped

the carb vacuum rubber caps can be had at a local auto parts store

if you don't want to buy the hose plug kits from the store you can be ghetto and plug them off by cutting the lines short, putting a proper sized bolt in the hose and clamping it off with a zip tie or standard jesus clamp

well that sob rig of mine stabbed me in that back yet again! Get around 15 miles down the rd and no volts. My dad and i are going to figure this thing out today. I pretty well know that the belt is slipping so i must not be getting enough tension. Ijust dont understand why it did not do it when i was driving it during the week.

That sucks man, sorry you didn't make it to D'town. I had my own issues again. Not vehicle related this time, but my son was up crying all night with a terrible cough. I just couldn't bring myself to abandon them and go have a good time when I know he would rather have me here helping to take care him. There are plenty of opportunities to wheel, got to make time for the family as they come first.

Good luck with the alt. issue. I took the free day to sneak into the garage a little and get my hi lift mounted on the rear swing-out and mount the CO2 tank in the rear of the bed. Gonna air up the tires from the 4 psi I had them set for wheeling and see if it still has death wobble. I fixed the toe-in last night to 1/8-1/4" and I made sure everything was tightened up. The u-bolts were a little loose, so that surely didn't help.

Maybe if Gulches dries out over the next few weeks I will head up there one saturday.

We found one suspect wire and replaced the long alternator bolt. I am getting 11.4volts on the meter at the battery when the truck is running but after driving a couple of miles the battery did not charge. Going to charge it over night and try one more time. If voltage drops again i am replacing the battery. I don't know what else to do .

to be honest with you i really wouldn't trust the volt meter gauge in your dash.

I would use a multi meter to verify your alt output voltage.

Sounds like you need a new battery. 11.4 volts is weak. I run about 12.5 volts on my battery constantly. Even sitting for 2 months.

we did use a multimeter. We found one wire that was broken in two and i forgot to reattach the wire that goes under the nut. I may be up for some fj60 target practice pretty soon if i don't figure it out though.

saw something interesting the other day. As i was going around the block in the neighborhood is saw a fj40 in someones driveway. Toppless and full of snow though. Sad.

I ordered them from Ralph Hayes. I'll see if I can find the part number for you.

IIRC the 3f has the same head plugs.. as only 4 of the ports have emissions pipes connected, I want to say 1 and 6 have the allen head plugs....

lets drink some beer and diagnose some charging system problems!!!!

The 60 internally regulated system is about as complicagted as a 16amp system equiped on a riding mower with an electric PTO.

I am gonna pick the battery back up today. If it does not work out i may get with u later on in the week.:bang:
