I remember when Ehsan came out with his seven window he had pics i sent him....and they changed the windows to a larger size...their intention was good...so there is more visability ...but...i remember there was alot of turn-off about the Different look...

Always appreciate your thoughts! These windows are the same size as the windows I copied from Randall's OEM top. And, because of the placement of the zippers, so as to be able to remove the side panel completely, I've maximized the space as much as possible from back to front. The only possibility is to change the dimensions from top to bottom.

I was a little confused by the response....
I think Softopguy was under the impression that you actually wanted the windows larger . ;) The windows in our top are the same size as OEM.....The've just been left square at the corners in this one.......Our standard top will have rounded windows just like OEM. Just to clarify

Softtopguy and Highlandcruzer, really appreciate the hard work you guys have put into this project. I am a tarheel down at the beach (Morehead City area) so what I really like is the marine type fabric. I already have a full soft top for mine but would be interested in something like this for summer. I would not need the side windows (so no zippers) or the entire rear window-so delete the grommets and the two small windows. I guess you could call it a full bikini top with the rear corners going down to the tub. If you could give me an idea of price that would be great. Hate to throw a custom request in here since your all just getting started but not too big of departure from what your making, thanks!

We can do that. Out of curiosity....What's your reason for leaving the rear corners going down to the tub? Aesthetics? Might just be extra fabric to catch wind, for the purpose of a bimini top. Would look cool though. :)

Very, very impressive!!!!!!:beer::beer::beer:

material looks great and the attention to detail is killer:clap:

Great job guys!!!!!!

Hats off

You guys have done a great job on the top, the detail for quality really shows. As soon as you have a set of bows for a 1975 at a good price my order will be coming your way. Now what color would look good with mustard yellow?

Highlandcruzer,

I have read previous posts about how some of the other full bimini tops are pretty floppy in the wind (without rear corners). Thought this would be more secure and actually shouldnt catch any more wind then driving with the windows rolled up, plus like ya said, should look cool too.

ps. I got your pm will let you know soon, thanks!

put me on the list to !!!!!

Tops are awesome, now for the BOWS

These tops look unbeleivable. Great job. Please get some bows going so that I may buy one.
Thanks again
Tom
74 FJ40/78 doors

highlandcruzer, I'm still interested, but like a lot of people, I do not have the original bows.
On a side note ... What color blue is the Cruiser in your pictures? Is it an orginal Toyota color? Do you have the paint code? (My FJ is silver, but after I finish the restoration this summer, I'd like it to be the same color blue as yours.)

maineidyl, what part of Maine are you from?

h Is it an orginal Toyota color? Do you have the paint code?

Color code should be 854, Sky Blue, Often called Smurf Blue or Purdy Blue:D

Stock Toyota Color from 1976-1979...mine is a '77 and LSLC's pres has a '79 in the same color.

And I've bought and sold two sets of OEM bows over the years...so X1000 on bow production...

Must Have One!!!

I need it all! I have just finished my first restoration of a 73. Learned a lot, but basically stock. The wife wanted a convertable so I bought her a FJ! It's 90 and 100% humidity in Illinois and I need to got one so my wife can take her top off whenever she wants!:censor:

Add one more to the list of takers once you have bows. Need the whole thing too!

Looks great, nice work!

Forgot to add a reminder from an earlier post of mine. I have ambulance doors and was wondering if there was going to be a longer rear option to prevent adding a rear tailgate?

Something I have been curious about this whole time - I would love to be able to buy an extra top for my soft amby-door top - i know the bows are slightly different and the top is different too but I haven't gotten to see the differences first hand yet since my top is on its way from Pakistan. Once things get rolling this might be another great thing to add to softtopguy's product line.

My top is being done by softopguy as we speak and I too have amby doors. I decided to do a set of half amby doors like the pre-75 cruisers have. I really like the look. I'm going to try to get a set of full doors here from the salvage yard and have them cut down. I think that is will end up being cheaper than trying to buy a set from the states and having them shipped here and then fiddle with the fit. Failing that I'll price a set from the U.S. with shipment and be prepared to fiddle. The least favored option, I have seen cheap"gates" offered. I'm not sure that they lift but they seem to be able to be dropped in placed and locked down.

Edit:
Just sourced the rear half doors. All I need to do when they arrive is grind down the corners and spiff them up.

Someone needs to start fabbing oem style soft top bows. I would buy this top over the paki top hands down if i had some bows. Did i mention that i need some bows ?

Wow, been a few months since I have looked at this post. The top looks great, but I need the bows just like everyone else. My fj40 is a Sept. 1974.....I have heard there is a different width around that year. Is that true?

I will definitely buy it if you can get the bows!
