U-Bolt Skid Plates... deal or dud?

If you are going to go over big rocks then they are great. I have the ubolt plates from SOR and I cant tell you the number of times I have hit that plate and slid over rocks. If you dont have them you will bend and destroy the ends of the ubolts. The other option that I wish I had done was the u-bolt flip kit. It would give you much better clearance.

From SOR - dud. Torque up good and they'll bend.

x2 on the sor ones. my shocks ripped the stud right out of both of the front ones, i've bent them...they're crap

I had trouble keeping the shock stud tight on either the front or rear plates. I scrapped 'em a long time ago.

Guess they 'look' more functional than they really are... thanks for the feedback!

I'm running the Downey Ubolt skids. Work great and they are pretty beefy. I did have to enlarge the holes slightly to fit a socket into the underside to tighten them on. They work a whole lot better at sliding over rocks that the stock Ubolt plates.

If I were doing it over, I would go with the Man-a-fre Ubolt flip kit.

I have a set on my old 40. Been on there for 20 odd years now.

Seem to work fine. Perhaps they redesigned them..

the 72 does not do much more than logging roads :flipoff2:
