Did some work on the 40 today...

During the last run I discovered that at full turn the tire was hitting the lower link causing the hydro steering to scream....

I havent looked but I'll need to see if I can find longer adjustment bolts... I'm good on level ground but i think I'll still rub on flex...

Also sucks that I lost good amount steering angle...Another reason to swap out to the wider 80 axles....

Zach and I rebuilt the steering on the 40. Super nice with very little play now.

Center arm kit, tie rods, relay rods, drag link and a new rag joint. All of the old was pretty trashed but the rag joint was in crumbs as it came out.

The 60 got new pinion bearings, wheel bearings, seals, and driveshaft (still not 100% balanced...). And finally a locker.

I should've put this thing in ages ago. Even my OCD-self can hardly tell it's back there.

Rigs ready for MK2020!

Zach- you're gonna love having real 4wd now.

...and now the 80 is locked. Only open diff in the driveway now is the LS.

Thatd be a nice touch. VSC kicks in on mine and is a nanny...no fun allowed when it's on.

Slapped enough of the 60 together to use it this spring. I had removed the rusted out rear cross member so had to fab up a rear bumper. Lucky my old sliders were the perfect length. Welded on a couple plates, painted it, and we’re good....

Also, I had broken a mount for a rear shock so the welder saves they day again. All she needs is new glass to be ready for spring wheeling. Will get to my spring over sooner or later I guess

Busy two weeks.

NOS Camry steering wheel. 45102-06061
45209-60070
45292-35050 Steering shaft seal
45230-60010 Steering Shaft Coupling
Also picked up a universal firewall bearing for a steering shaft.
Power steering pump and
Steering box.

The reman steering box I installed before Christmas has a slow leak. I had a replacement sent. This should overhaul the steering.

Time to see how different the FZJ80 brakes differ from my FJ80... Only need to do the front axle... well the booster too....

Key note: 93 - 95 Calipers were much more expensive than 96 - 97 calipers...

Calipers are Shiney!!!

I didn't know the front brakes were different, learned something

Finally got the smell out of my car.

one of the first things I did with the sixty was get rid of the nasty ol carpet....smelled like years of use and abuse

Got my windshield installed. Drive it home with a drive shaft that I remember having some vibration to it, but man it was WAY worse than I remembered! Thought it was going to shake the 60 apart. Got a better one from Michael B and put new u- joints in and it is driveable now but need to get this DS balanced.

Is Rocket City Offraod still the only option for that in Huntsville?
