There was a mention of these over on the Birfield/55 list. I've seen Evan's, I think they're cool, BushBoy has 'em too.
Anybody know a part number for the two-tone lens? Maybe are they still available out of Oz or Japan?

I saw a set on eBay once ... I thought they were an "early model" thing?

Tucker

Nope - Non-US thing, but I dig them! Get me a set to if you find 'em -

Yup. Non-US.
Hey, I just thunk that: You know how sometimes the part# is stamped or molded into the piece?
Could there (is there) be the part# on those lenses. Evan?
And BushBoy, Could you, if it were convenient, call your local partshouse and inquire into the availability of those particular lenses?

Yeah sure, i've seen a few wrecks around with them on also, but im not sure of the condition.
I have also heard of a 4wd wrecker about an hours drive away from here, i'll get their number and give them a call for ya.
I'll go and have a look see if i can see a part # too.
I also agree that they look really cool

Dan.

I have a set like those on my pig I don't know if they would qualfiy as mint condition. I will take some pictures in the day light. The numbers moled in them are
DOT TOYOTA FJ-2R SAE STI 8 Japam KOITO
On the left the FJ-2R is replaced with FJ-2L so I would assume that is the part number.

Here are the picutes I think they are in pretty good shape I don't know about mint though, let me know if you think they might work to duplicate them. I can pull them off and take pictures from the inside if needed.

It very interesting in fact. I bought it over the phone with only seeing some pictures. I knew it was a 76 and right hand drive from the pictures, that was about it. It was orginaly sold in Austrailia and a profesor that was going to be teaching at the University of British Columbia brought it over with him around 99. He then tought at Stanford and was leaveing the country and planded to take the pig with him but before he could, the motor burrned up and gave it to the tow truck driver, who sold it to me $400. It has a little more rust than could ever been visilbe in the pictures but it is going to be worth it.

Does anyone out there have a model that originated in Japan or Australia maybe? I am going to check with a Japanese friend on these. In the past he has told me he can only buy parts if he provides the Veh. ID #. Japan (maybe in paranoia read Specter) controls its parts tightly. I would not be paranoid but years ago he and I sold some electronics systems and the folks in the US got the Japanese enterprises to block exports not wanting any competition. Who knows....?????
