that some great skills you have there. wish my projects went along at even a quarter of your pace!

i once grabbed a 60 series power steering box from a wreck to replace a failed one on a hj75 station ute. swapped the pitman and bolted it right up; was only then i discovered that 60 series are configured 180 degrees out from a 75. we were that close that we threw the wheels back on and went for a drive in steer left but wheels go right mode. fun in 2nd but would of course kill you at any pace. i had an idea to set up a low speed obstical course with sticks and such (plenty of means of disqualification) and add this onto a fundraiser day for our little race club. $20 a drive, winner takes half the pot and club the other half something like that. allow multiple attempts at $20 a throw if contestants want to try better their time or negate a disqualification but some spoilsports in the committee were a bit dicey about insurance pox. i should have been born 50 years ago. still think the idea has potential though and hope someone else runs with it; it is very easily built.

so i put my leaky old unit back on until i found a replacement at the right price.

Man that looks familiar on the bed rebuild. Mine looked almost the same. I was able to save the upper and lower on mine and just welded a steel patch along the rusted area that I cut out. You keep it going I am looking forward to seeing the old gal in her glory.

Hey mate what was written on the bush as I am in need of one badly

Cheers chappo

awsome job on truck bro, i like the trailready rims best

Yeah, same. I love the trailready rims, and have the 15" beadlocked version on my Bj42. I originally wanted to get some for the HJ as well as my FJC, but they just cost too much by the time you get them to Oz. The methods were about 1/3 of the cost. So for the money, I'm more then happy with how the methods look.

Absolutely marvelous work

Cheers mate.

Finally found the info for the bush that Ray posted on another forum.

VU/VY commodore radius rod to control arm bush. Part number is 48019. Its a bush kit with 4 bushes, 2 large and 2 small. The one you need is the small one. You'll have 3 bushes left over, 1 of which can do another column.

Cheers mate

Few things progressed along over the last couple of weeks.

Seats frames were repainted then re-trimmed and new door trims made too. Thanks heaps to Jamie!!

22 Gallon (83 litre) RCI Fuel Cell turned up. Part No. RCI1212C It's going to be a tight fit trying to get the 3" exhaust past it, so not 100% sure if I will use this yet. Custom might be a better idea, or maybe just modding this to suit.

New styleside panels were also finished. Made from 1.6mm. A frame will be made from galvanised RHS and EA to suit.

Varies a lot....my quick thoughts for late model 45s with p/steer & disc brakes.

Needing paint and minimal rust petrol maybe $3000-$5000, diesel $5000-$8000

Very tidy original paint or restored diesels 8k-25k maybe more. Petrols probably top out around 15k.

I was thinking diesel ute hj47 83/84 tray back . But I just look on gumtree and its seems about right there asking $6500 to $9500 for them. I'm in Canada so I can't see them in person which sucks.

Awesome work man. More inspiration to get out in my shed.

There would be plenty of 40 series fans over here happy to look at them for you if need be. If your on Facebook search and join these two groups.

Australian 40 series Landcruisers 40 SERIES LANDCRUISER OWNERS

If there is any around the Sunshine Coast, QLD I would be happy to check them out.

Cheers......

We done the rest of the exhaust last night and have now decided to go to a custom fuel tank in the rear so I will sell the RCI tank.

I dropped a heap of leaves out of the rear packs to get it closer to ride height and mocked up the styleside properly. I love the look of it, but am now worried the 35s are going to be too big with only around 3" up travel before hitting the tub.

I don't want to lift the 45 any higher either so am thinking I will have to drop back to 33s. Next issue is I think the 17" rims might look too out of place with only 33s on them....

Started fitting up the OzEast fibreglass front gaurds (65mm wider then stock) last night. Chucked the doors and roof back on to get a better look on how the finished truck will look. Pretty stoked!

Great work mate looks fantastic

Finally finished up the 65mm wider front fibreglass guards and have had the headboard folded up and now fitted to the tub. Really happy with how its turned out. Wooden floor with polished stainless strips between each plank is next then get some inner wheel tubs folded up.
Have lifted the rear flares up which looks heaps better. I'll cut out the sheet metal to suit. Will allow me to run the 35s at the current lift height. I'll get a fibreglasser to cut and shut the flares so the front and back both finish at the bottom of the sides.
