I know, not a big tech subject, but this has been an annoying gremlin on and off for years.
Over the past few years, my turn signals/hazard flasher would sometimes blink slowly, sometimes even just stopping in the "on" position. I bought a new relay, that did nothing. I cleaned all the contact points in the wiring I could reach, and that worked. . . for a while. For the past month, they were dead. Then, one cold, dry morning, they worked great. . . until I drove around for an hour, after which they stopped again. I decided it must be some heat/moisture related effect.
Since inspection is coming up, I finally went through it all again, and the thing that did the trick was putting dielectric grease on the vanes of the relay. Now everything clicks and flashes at the proper tempo.
Now I just have to get my license plate lights working and I'm all set.
