After having more time to think about all of this, I am starting to believe that you have older than 74 signal switch , I am not sure about the wiring for them, but I see in my diagrams grren/w wire coming from the signal switch.

I think so too, but he never answered the question I asked about this. No information is no help.

The problem ended up being the flasher. There was not enough current being drawn throught the front and rear signals to make it work. I installed an electronic flasher and everything works as it should. I have the 4 to 3 wire converter wired in so the combo turn/stop lights work in the rear bumper and as well as the trailer lights. I found a 6-wire square plug at Tractor Supply that worked great for being able to have the converter and all wire connections in the bumper allowing for removal of bumper and simply unplugging it from the vehicle. I wired in one side of the plug to the large factory connector in the frame rail above the axle and did away with all the factory wiring that fed the original tail lights. I like the fact of being able to simply unplug and swap taillights in the event of having one go out on a trip. Just about everybody carrys the rubber mounted ovals. Thanks for all your help and maybe this will shortcut someone down the road having the same trouble or those who want to convert over to same setup. On the front fenders, I trimmed them down a few inches and tubed them out with 13/4" tubing. They turned out great and allow more clearance but did not allow the installation of the factor front turn signals. I got a pair of dual-element motorcycle side marks and mounted them flush to the fenders. They look great and also inexpensive to replace. If anybody wants pics of any of the above feel free to ask. You might also like the way I stretched the wheelbase by about 6" and made some custom tube fender flares in the back. Thanks for all your help on this one.

Thanks for the update KEEJEF, pics will be nice, maybe you can get a new thread started for the tail lights and wheel base stretch.
I am using these ones, they stay clean, been working great for near 13 years on another fj40, replacements are only $12 a piece.
Very easy to install.
