So on my 1988FJ 62 something weird. Not all the time but I turn the key, slight pause with nothing then fires up normally. I had O’Reillys check the battery, starter and alternator - all good. Suggestions? Vehicle is all stock and wiring is very clean. I did read the threads but could not find any related posts.
Thank you.

"nothing meaning no lights and really nothing or lights and buzzers and such but no crank?

Weaponoffreedo,
All lights, buzzers, etc.work. No crank, then fires up like normal. No slow drag on starter.
Thank you!

The ignition switch (the electrical switch behind the ignition key tumbler) fails after 35 years and 50k cycles. The contacts become worn and dirty.

This is one of a couple possibilities.

Well it is of course in the starting circuit. Work your way from cheapest and easiest to the most expensive. It sound like other here on on the right track. An intermittent seems to suggest issue with contact. You LC is easy, most mechanical. A small stainless brush and OXgard will do wonders for sure.
