Hi guys I have finally got all the parts to gether to pull the TBI 5.7sbc out of my fj40 and swap in a 3B and 5spd "hope that I will not regret the choice" LOL I have a turbo that I am sure is far to big for what I need. It is a Garrett M24 APM Compressor A/R .70 Hot side is A/R 1.32 I was wondering what the proper specs would be for a turbo for a 3B don't want to melt it. Thanks in advance.

This will likely get more run over here.

M24 is a good turbo but your AR is too high. you need to find AR 42 or AR 48, M10 or garrett T25.

I have few Garrett T25 new for sale with AR 48

Got a turbo today off a 2000 Volvo s40 with a 1.9l and from what I can find it is a low pressure turbo and it should push 8.7psi. I am still looking at the other specs to make sure it will work, but for anyone else who has made a junkyard turbo work, what have you used? Also do you recommend any website for finding turbo specs, as a lot of what I find isn't answering my questions, but i just don't know where to look.

Look for A/R numbers on the turbine and compressor housings. Failing that, post up the whole turbo model codes.

I used a turbo of a late 80's volvo... it was a garret T3 with a .48 if you do some google searching you should be able to find out the specs on yours!

The turbo from a 1.9 liter will work but may choke the engine at cruising speed.
i use one from a nissan SR20DET ,a little small.
use one from mid 80s volvo 740?/760 with great success,2.3 liter?
Use one from a nissan 280ZX,a little too big.

SR20 turbos are plenty big enough. The Nissan CA18DET turbo is a 0.49 A/R T25.

The turbo is from a 200 Volvo engine B4204T 119cu in 4cyl tag says MFD No.49377-06251, Part No. 8627990, 13433 made in Japan, on the hot side it says 77-11811-085 and that is it it has to be good its made in Japan! LOL Thanks for all the help.

Got the power train and drive lines into the 40 now I just have to mount everything run coolant lines, batterys, new gauges, air cleaner. So basicly everything less the motor and trans, but had to fire it up sounds pretty strong! Can't wait to drive it then I can install the turbo want it running prefect before I change too much then if I have trouble it easier to track down gremlins! LOL
