Im not saying that the turbo would perform that way.

Or that the head would stay intact and the piston ring-grooves the same width.
But it's applicable to the Di toyotas too.

Back to the holset

So I looked around last fall and bought a new HE221w with the 6 cm housing to glue onto the old HJ47, I was thinking that I would get the kinds of results that y'all are talking about, fast spool at I am thinking 1500 rpm and be in the thick of the power band at 2000-2300, with the wastegate running pretty dang open after that. 2800 rpm is a pretty rare occurrence now, that might change somewhat with the turbo though.

It is actually a pretty stinkin' small unit, so it should be easy to locate above the current exhaust manifold, which is pretty much the only place for it since it is LHD and the brake master cylinder and vaccum pump do not leave much room next to the manifold. The only problem is the outlet is set up to run off the right side of the engine, I will have to mess with how the wastegate actuator is attached to the outlet housing to make it fit on the right side, or mount it transverse to the engine, which would not thrill me. Other than that, it is obviously a very well made extremely beefy built unit.
