I am thinking I about tuing the engine bay in my 4runner, and removing all the factory metal. It's been wrinkled a few too many times. I remeber seeng a white mini with blue flames on the Rubicon. I think he was a memeber of PMC.

So should I weld it all to the frame, or bolt it to the firewall and rubber mount to the frame? If I weld to the frame, should I worry about the body flex since the hood latch and fenders would be hooked to the "engine cage"?

Anyone got any pics?

Do you have a cage you can tie it to as well? If you do and the cage is attached to the chassis then tie it all together but if you don't I'd try to rubber mount it.

I'm thinking of doing a similar thing when I build the cage on my project. My plan is to solid mount it to the chassis, but bolt it instead of welding it so that repairs to the engine bay are easier to access if needed.

I am starting to think, weld it all in. The rubber mount something between the engine caga and firewall to keep the body from shifting to much.
