TruHi9 Third into a Land Cruiser Axle? (1 Viewer)

Would be cool I think to do, has anyone done this? Put a Ford 9 inch third into the Land Cruiser axle housings? I thought I remember some threads on this a couple years back but can't seem to find them when I search. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I think that if you're going to go through the trouble of putting in a ford 9" center section, it would be better to upgrade everything else along with it. IE 35 or 40 spline axles, and 1 ton u-joints for the steering axle. I think using a ford 9" center section with the 'Cruiser axle shafts and birfields/longfield won't really buy you anything for the cash spent on putting something like this together.

I think it would be better to setup a '609' front end (ford 9" center section with dana 60 outers using 35 spline axle shafts). and a full floating for 9" rear with 40 spline axles.

I'm just looking at doing the rear 80 series full float axle. Looking more for driveline clearance than increasing strength. Front will be the high pinion 80 series axle.

In this case it was a very eloquent solution to get rid of the weaklink hi pinion 8" but keep everything else bolt on 80 series parts that would be available for this guy abroad.

In any other case a hybrid doesn't make really any sense.

In a rear application, i'm not sure what you think you will salvage from the yota axle? You will need a 9" housing and in the case of an uber expen$ive hi 9 diff you are talking penuts for a spidertrax housing and 35 spline shafts.

I'm considering using toyota semi float bearings on my rear 9" build and using my drum brakes, if you are talking that kind of hybrid?

Hmm... I might have to look into that. But my driving style isn't hard on gear so I'll have to think on that. I was going to use 80 series full float and discs.
