Rear hangers and springs piece of cake. I'd help if needed. Since @elkun1 is being nice enough to offer to use his place that be best if your willing to wait. As far as 35s, I thought it could be done with body mount chop and control arms? Oh and a big wallet to fix all the broken front end parts after the first trip out:hillbilly::)

1. Body Chop and remove fenders
2. Upper control arms w/ lift
3. Re-gear and front locker while your in there. (becuase why not)
4. Better/ HD CVs
5. Then you want the crawler transfer case....
6. then you have set your self with a great way to blow your front diff. Or break and axel while idling over rocks

oh and you gotta have that full sized spare too. so theres that

i read it on the internet so it must be true. And plus it makes a bunch a little things change like you cant mount a 35 on the rear hatch cuz it hit the window or the bumper without relocating it.

sorry to hijack the thread..

I'm down for helping out, but don't have those specific skills. Always happy to participate and learn as we go along. I had some amazing help with my lift and want to return the favor if i can.

Any update? The shop should be available any time after mid week on. With MTyota's offer to help it shouldn't be a very big job. Let us know. On a side note, any one ever machined out a 80% lower?

Yep, have you done 1? Got some questions.

I had toyed with the idea, but talked myself out of it. Ive built a couple up but never went as far as buying the paperweight and finishing it. To many things i know i would screw up, and you pretty much have to buy the jigs from what i read. And buy more then one because the first one is just practice. The second try is the one you keep. And you cant ever sell it or trade it away its yours forever.

I decided it wasnt worth it. Plus it was also when i was still at the pawn shop, and we literaly had a box of lowers that we were selling for our cost which was like 50$ plus 25 for the paperwork.

I picked up a couple of them for the reason you stated along with a jig. I have a couple of projects I'm contemplating and thinking about picking up a mill. You can put a serial number on them if you do want to get rid of it. As far as saving money, as cheap as ar's are now it doesn't pencil out. kinda like restoring an old vehicle. The way this winter is starting out will need more projects by christmas. I'll let you know if i get a mill, can destroy some al. that way. If you want to check out something thats, shall we say unique check out the ghost gunner mill.

So. Moab gave me a new list of required mods. I dropped my truck on my rear leaf spring mounts pretty hard. Just ordered really beefy replacements. The factory ones are riveted to the frame. Rivets need cut off so new brackets can be bolted on.

I don't have anything to cut them off and not sure how to pull leaf off and put them back on.

Also want to get my fenders cut to make room for 35s. Would like to not have to pay Dark Horse to do all this stuff. Lol

Anyone have the skills & tools to help me do this?
I built my entire rig. I would be happy to help you. I have a lot of experience working on cars.

I made a body lift for my 100 series, it was pretty straight forward. The radiator bracket I made my self. This will help with your tire clearance. Only cut your fenders if you want or have to. No offense to those that have.

Sorry I'm rarely on Mud.

My brackets have not shipped yet. Still waiting. :(

Dealing with having my third 3rd member repaired right now...

OMG Finally got my truck back!!! Three plus weeks without my truck. Ughh.

Borrowed an old company truck from work. Thank God because I could not have afforded to rent a car for 3+ weeks. And $526 later I've paid the mechanic to pull my 3rd out, ship it, and put it back in. He also checked out the rear end to make sure I don't have wheel bearing issues. Turns out Tacomas have sealed wheel bearings. So that's good to know.

Ironically, ECGS told me that 3rd member we sent back to them was - perfect. No signs of wear. Bearings were good. Gears were set properly. They found nothing wrong with it. But, they agreed to put new bearings and ring/pinion gears in it anyhow. Shipped it back.

And guess what? The noise is gone. For now at least.

Also, I get the feeling that the guys at M&W Repair on Rouse are true mechanics. They asked a lot more questions than Dark Horse ever has. Heck, their service writer (Bill) was asking me 20 questions before I ever dropped off the truck. He wanted to know what has been checked so far, etc.

So now to do my 500 mile break-in for the 4th time.

Now I need some warmer temps so I can get my new rear leaf spring mounts painted. Then I'll need to find some help getting them installed.

Hahahahha.. Wait, really?
