That would be awesome wv, that sounds like a good idea how's the edge look? In the rear that is

I did the separate, slice, and roll back over method on the rear wv described as well. Put seam sealer over it and them hit it with liner. PKP80 talks about it in a thread I had going back a in late 2010. WV, I love your rig and tires! I wish I had $3500 to spend on some beadlocks and 41.5x13.50r17 Rockers! 40+" tires are about right for these rigs. They need that much to keep the low hanging fruit from the rocks!

i was able to cut the outer body in about 1.5 inch wide sections and fold them over the inner. I put a few self-tappers in them and also reused some the factory bolts and clips from the front fenders to hold the rear outer and inner together. Then i just rolled on some new durabak to cover it all.

Kinda like what I did, filled with a little bondo an then spayed with liner so there are no sharp edges to cut up the tire.

Sorry for the $hitty cell phone pics.

thanks!! Buying tires does suck for sure but i got pretty lucky on mine. Traded my 37's and some cash for the tires and ive only got around $500 in the wheels and beadlocks.

Nice, do you have any pics of the cutting process?

No, didnt think to take any in the middle of the work. I didnt really do much plannin or anything, just skcetched some lines with a marker where i wanted the fenders to end up and cut the notches up to that line and folded em over. Ill get some pics up of how they're cut and folded tomorrow night when i get back home.

Thanks wv id appreciate it

Nice! Can you take a couple pics of under the front marker lights there the a/c thing is behind the bumper? How did you cut that?

And what is that 6th pic from the bottom showing?

that is one of the factory threaded clips from the front fenders. i just drilled through the outer piece that i folded over and the inner fender (on the rear fenders), slid that clip on the inner fender then threaded the bolt back in. you will see how they work when you start taking the front fenders apart if you havent already.

The answer to your question really depends on a few things:

1. How much you want your tires to tuck. As per "Dafun" just cutting out the entire inner fender is your best best for max clearance and recut the outer fender line to follow the tops of the fender molding holes so that your tires will clear when tucked and turning.

2. You will need to space your tires out 1-1.25" if the tire is 13.5" wire on 4" back spaced rims, 2" if wider (but then you don't clear the outer edge of the rear fender at full tuck).

Best of luck, let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

man that thing is nuts...is there anything electrical to short out in that inner fender? from water being kicked up from the tire?

Nothing really, PS there is the antenna and on the DS there are a few relays that you just place on the inside (you can patch the holes if you like). I removed the whole ABS unit which eliminated a lot of the wires and "stuff" in that area not to mention 20 lbs of weight.

here is my cruiser in process of making room for my 38.7" Michelins. You can see them in the first 2 pics;
