So you just cut the fender wells out and just left them? Up front that is
 
That is what I did up front. Cut them at the line where they meet the engine bay.

if this was directed to me; No. Cutting off the inner fender and then making a new one that sticks straight out and meets the new line of the outer fender. More pics to come.
 
Any of you guys that took out your fender wells have any issues with water getting anywhere it shouldn't be?

No issues so far for me, and I've driven it all day in heavy rain. I moved all the electronics inside the engine bay via pushing them through the holes and bolting them back down. I think that helps. Eventually ill probably cut a piece of heavy rubber, plastics or aluminum and screw it to the inner well wall to cover all the openings.

You could but you would still need to cut the outer to clear the tires. Here is what we did to my outer.

That's a good idea I didn't think of just covering up those openings
