trd hood scoop on 80

Ive got an sti scoop on my 60 series, I would/may do the same on my 80 with another sti scoop. I think they have what I want asthetically and functionally.

Gotta search the subaru forums for one I guess.

Maybe I missed this in other threads but as I recall there weren't any detailed pictures of the hole(s) cut in the hood or exactly how the WRX or Sti scoop was mounted & how to maintain the hoods rigidity.

Did you make a sub-frame to mount the Subaru scoop to your 60 to OR did you just bolt it to the hoods sheet metal?

I am wondering if I need to score a wrecked Subaru hood and cut/graft that piece to my hood to keep my hood.

Sledge916 did this. I PM'd him regarding posting up some pictures.

I hacked a hole in the hood, and stuck it in there.

I had to grab a bit of aluminum to use in order to hold it on. The scoop has bolts that protrude downwards and you may be able to get it to work without building brackets if you build a really good template first. It's been so long that I dont really remember. If I have anytime this weekend (i dont) I will try and take a picture of it.

I do think that because of the size of the subaru scoop that you may want to reinforce the hood, depending on how you like to do things.

some one did one utilizing a WRX (sti?) scoop. Search for supercharger and intercooler.
Yep. But it was a WRX (non-STI) scoop: https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/149478-intercooler-trd-supercharger.html.

IMPO, a lot of the scoops out there (including the 4-Runner, etc) are too narrow. The 80 is a big truck, with a wide hood. Finding something to complement the hood dimensions nicely is a bit of a challenge. And if you're like me, and wanna pull it off while still looking "stock," that's even harder. There are quite a few options out there: https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/176021-hood-scoops.html.

Again, IMPO, the scoop off of a 1988 Isuzu Trooper/Bighorn 2.8 TD looks & fits the best (while still being functional), and could easily pass for "stock" - see pics below. Still working on sourcing a scoop though, cuz I think it was only available overseas.

EDIT: Corrected info about the year/make/model of the Isuzu hood scoop
