Transmission issues

Hi all,

I have a RHD 1986 HJ61 12HT with 4 speed auto trans (A440F I believe). I recently started to notice that when going from first to second gear the shift would be delayed, and engine would rev up, then a hard shift would take place. Feels like it might be doing it from 2nd to 3rd gear as well.

Any tips on what might be causing it?

Check the adjustment of the trans kickdown cable per the FSM, it can cause all kinds of issues with shifting.

I'm not real familiar with HJ61's, but that's exactly what it looks like on my HDJ81, right down to the orange stopper.
