Transfer case

My 99lx has a very slow leak at the transfer case input shaft..I've searched forums and get conflicting fixes..do I have to split the case or not?...I'm pretty handy with my wrenches but should I let the pro's do it?....it's not leaking so bad as to leave spots on ground, but just enough to leave bottom of case wet and piss me off

Mine has a leak too, it pisses me off because I can't easily check the level and I'm always worried that I'm gonna run out of fluid even though it's a very small leak.
If I had the space and the tools I'd rebuild it with the full gasket kit from Toyota, it's about 50$ iirc.

How do you know it's leaking at the input shaft as opposed to the front or rear output shaft(s)?

Reason I ask is I believe you can replace the seals at the output shafts by only taking off the front or rear extension housing, leaving the transfer case in place. To get to the Input shaft I would think you would almost have to split the transfer case.

I have a leak at the front output shaft but have not fixed it yet.

That's is definitely a wrinkle I didn't know...I cleaned the transfer case 3 days ago and from everything I can see its gravitating from front of transfer case behind the brass collar behind where shaft goes into the transfer case..so is there 2 seals there? One inside the case and one outside?

It's not dripping underneath so it's very slow...even after being parked in same spot everyday there is no oilspots underneath but I know it's there and it's going aggravate me until I fix it
