This Icecool E350 6x6 is on a setup as i told you with USA 6x6 transfer box bolted directly to the nose of the first rear axle. This setup can be made with a disconect, that is what they are doing in UK on the landy 6x6;)

Sorry, got it in my mind you were talking about this:

But yes the USA 6x6 thing is an option, but with more unsprung weight and some machine work.

I know this 9"..through shaft system but that is not what i was talking about.

Unsprung weight won't be that bad, especially when we talk of 38+ tires, unsprung weight doesn't count that much anymore:grinpimp:, we are not on a race car.

Talos, some of those looks rather like Volvos :)
You can get a Volvo TGB for 550.000 ISK... Not that bad, and the gearing is NOT a problem if you exchange both the Volvo engine and gearbox for the Toyota parts.
As a bonus you get the lower gearing of the portal axles making the revs fit better. The Volvo accepts 40" tyres without mods.

One thing about 6X6's; articulation of the two rear axles are very important, without massive articulation a 6X6 is worse than a 4X4.

I would love to get a TGB for 550K ISK, but for example the green one I posted was for sale for 1.500.000 ISK if I remember correctly.

So that price 550K ISK, is that in Denmark?
because then you have shipping = 100K at least, 45% tax and 25.5% VAT.... really adds up :/

I had NO idea tax would be so high! Are you sure? After all its a 38 year old vehicle...
The price is from sweden, I just checked what was for sale...

I´m sure they are at least that, might be 65% tax!

Although if it is a vehicle that is over 40 years old the tax goes down to 10% I think.

But it might be better just to import it as spare parts, then only 15% tax (+25.5% VAT).

Well, that should be possible, or as machine parts. If your laws are anything like the Danish, I believe the 45% will only be charged if you attempt to register it as a vehicle right? If you import it as a parts truck, and in effect transfer the registration on the HJ61 to the Volvo frame, it will keep the identity as the HJ61 in regards to tax etc. right?

Just got me a Dana 24 transfer case, needs rebuilding but should suit my needs.

...So should I do it? :)

Man that body work looks rough. Lol

If I don´t ever register it I believe the tax will have to be paid anyway after some time, not sure though.

But it´s still a bit too pricey, need to cough up cash for a new body as well...

Maybe I´ll just make do with getting some 44s :)

Remember, with the Volvo you get the suspension too, and that work really well.
Instead of the streched 60 body, I would go with something like this:

IMOP that makes more sense with a 6X6, get a decent shell on it, with some room.
Besides, it's not like you have to worry about being too big to fit between the trees on the trail :)

hehe I´ve actually been thinking about that, since I have alot of experience building trailers and cargo units on trucks.

Would be more akin to this:

Can get very light and strong sandwich material to build it from, would probably have alot more "utility" to it than just an extension

So are you thinking of doing a 6x6 with a camper rear half? That would be extremely cool.

Since you'd be removing the entire rear half of the body, you could design the rear frame any way you'd like to accommodate the second rear axle and then build the new body around it.

I think you should do it!!

So you have experience in building sandwich constructions? Then I'll need your help on my Volvo project when I pick it up again!

I think its a great idea to take your truck to the next level that way, doing it right will put it right up there with Soenkes.

^center diff between the two rear axles.

Here's what I'd do:

V8
+
NV4500
+
Dana 300 (front output going to stock front axle)
+
Driveshaft
+
Short H42
+
Splitcase (rear output going to a stock 60 rear and front out put going to another 60 rear, flipped over for passenger side drop.
