My transfer case is stuck in low range and will not come out!!!!!!!!! It also doesn't have a e- brake so I found a used one locally for $50 and the guy threw in tons of extra parts. I have searched through the FAQ and have done sevral searches but I have yet to find a direct answer. In removing the tranny- t case as one do you remove the shift fork, the four bolts on the bell housing and drop the tranny? I need to put a new clutch in while I am down there. do i disconnect the bell housing after it is out ? I was told the rear seal was leaking on the other t case does toyota still sell this seal? if so any part numbers? If there is a thread out there that explains this please dont be afraid to just post the link. Thanks

Kinda confusing but maybe it is just me.....

Two things right?
One:
Your old transfer case is crap because it is stuck in low
Second:
How do you remove the tranny with the t-case?
Yes you are right you can remove the shift fork obviously only so you don't have to fight it being in the way.
Remove the bell housing to engine bolts cant remember but probably the slave cylinder, and the wires that at minimum come from the top of the t-case.

I think if i am following correctly you have done this and still are having problems......... When i removed mine I to had problems and it was because the shaft on the tranny was bound/stuck to the pilot bearing in the flywheel. I had to use a couple bars to convince the tranny it wanted to separate from the engine and i ended up tearing the pilot bearing into pieces allowing it to come apart.

No and yes. You shouldn't have to remove it for anything you have talked about doing however i removed the bolts in mine because it provided me with a better spot to get my pry bar into and apply what for me took a bit of force to seperate.......

Hope this is on track to what you are asking

Good Luck

I just did this a week ago, witha 3B and a 4 speed...

not saying it's gospel, but it worked for me,

from above, pull the access plate above the transmission, unbolt the shifter and transfer case shifter.

using a bar across the roll cage or doors with windos rolled down, sling the transmission, take it's weight with a come-along or chainhoist

remove crossmember

unbolt front and rear driveshafts (you can leave them attached to the front and rear pinions)

remove clutch slave cylinder

remove starter

remove wires attached to tranny

remove e brake cable

remove bellhousing to engine bolts

mine slipped out easy, no prying, straight back, then down...

done
