So my new rig won’t fit between my wheel wells. New rig is 83” wide on the front. I thought I could back it onto the trailer but the rear is to wide as well.
I see two COAs
1. New (to me) trailer – Sell/trade what I have for a trailer that would work
2. Modify what I have – Build drive over wheel wells and widen the trailer
I’m leaning towards option two but the question is do I build permanent or removable, drive over wheel wells?
Thoughts?

I know it makes extra work, but what about getting two tall skinny wheels for front for transport? You would have to change them out every time.... sucks. Maybe do that until you find a bigger trailer?

Good idea but don't think that would work. I have 76 3/4" between trailer wheel wells. The axles are Custom Diamond axles from FROR, 67" front/64" rear. Even with skinnies, I don't think it would fit.

Drive over permanent. I have a 81" between and most stuff nearly fits. They are removable but I don't take the time. Now they are all very beat up and ready to fall off I was planning on making drive over and be done with it. Even if I never drive over them they will not get beet up with being a little off center loading

Good point. Do it once and be done with it.

So I did some additional measuring on my trailer and rig. The width of my trailer deck is 77". The width of the rig is 83". Delta is 6", or 3 additional inches to each side is required for the trailer deck. My chain pockets are 1 5/8" from deck to exterior making the width of trailer at chain pockets 80 1/4". If I add 2" angle iron to the exterior of the chain pockets, the width of the trailer is now at 84 1/4 inches. I think I'll have to reinforce the distance between the chain pockets and the exterior edge of the angle iron.
I was thinking of placing 1 1/5" OD round stock between each chain pocket. I was also considering making triangles to be placed at each chain pocket and at the added round stock to carry the exterior edge.
I'm still wrapping my mind around the wheel wells. My wife did suggest using drive up ramps. The ones used to get the front end of cars off the ground enough to change the oil. IDUNO. She might be onto something.

i think your over thinking it. like you mentioned put some angle on the out side of the pockets maybe a couple tie ins in between the pockets and then some simple rails on the inner portion of the fender and then wood blocks interior to the fenders. I am assuming 83" is the out side of the bulge of the tires? what is the width of the tread contact? my guess is very little weight on the outer out riggers and fender as you drive over.

there are a few very simple designs in hereL

Yeah. Overthinking things is my M.O. I'll get to the link later tonight.

What was I thinking? I'm not a Metal guy. Using my wife's idea. I still plan to use 2x2 angle on the outside of the chain pockets.

put in some bracing and that should work
I have included two "studs" if you will from bottom plate, vertical to, what will be the 2x10 top cap. Top cap will cover the 2x12s that are vertical.

Got the 4Runner on the trailer. I need to do something about the ramps though. Or it may have to do with my daughter spotting me onto the trailer the first time. With the front tires pressed back to the front of the wheel wells, the young drop is 1/4 inch. Not to bad.
