What about camping at the same spot, and have the club spend the summer exploring trails in that area and put together a few ideas?

Another location is Chilliwack Lake, and doing some of the trails in that area. Scenery is very nice around there.

I guess we need to decide if this is going to be hardcore, or scenic, or a one of each?

Id say try to split it again, Go back to Chehailis lk for camping(lots of room) Take a stocker group up sunrise, hale crk, and on to the lake for some playtime. Take The modded trucks to Inch creek(norrish) run 6ft,bungeramoo,and canopener. I know norrish really well So I could take the group there.(thats if anyone signs up with me this year :)

I second Dans thoughts,
West Harrison has a million trails for easy to tough, plus that camp spot on the lake is real nice and clean with lots of space, and best of all it's free. Another trail Dan would be Wilson lake for the medium trucks.

have you guys ever ventured down past silver lake, towards ross lake? i believe it's the skagit valley area. follows the river, there's a whole network of trails on the west side of the river.

Hmm...I've flyfished the Skagit many times, but have never actually explored to wheel in the area. Interesting. Might be a bit far out though...but there's camping at Ross lake. Mosquitoes are KILLER in that whole area during the summer though. They're small, but they HURT. :D

next weekend I would like to go out and do some scouting. If anyone wants to join thats cool. I just want to get an idea of what route to take and the best way to cover as much ground as possible.

So for the show How many days for camping? If anything i would camp sat,sun and limp home monday after beating my truck all weekend. how does that sound?

Dan

i would be in for a mild to medium run... scenic would be nice...
BTW, are dogs welcome at this event?

Stone is gone fishing for a few days now, however stay tuned for updates and news here. He will let you know these fine details as they develop and get solidified.

Scouting runs are good! Dunno if I will be able to attend next weekend, however as mush scouting by as many people as possible will be good. We can then compile all our information for the CC days organizing crew, and they/we can decide the final choice of runs, and location.

We have never had a no dog policy and I believe this year won't be an exception. From what I can tell from previous years, lots of 'cruiser owners are also dog owners... must be a camping thing.

well since I found this on PG 4 and it was dated to APRIL maybe we should figure this out.

from the July CC meeting thread:

"As for the wheeling after Cruiser Day, Gary T & Bill will check out the roads and the campsite will be at Big Silver Creek (NOT CHEHALLIS LAKE THIS YEAR). Members can make Clear Creek the Sunday run if they like. Bill will print some maps of how to get there to out-of-town wheelers. WHO IS THE TRAILMASTER FOR BIG SILVER CREEK?? "

How come you guys want to change the site from last year? too much logging on the west side of Harison? Cause I think there's probably a lot more trails on the west side, and it's a lot closer too.
Cheers,

Well, changing locations of the Cruiser Days camping was NOT my idea. We were talking about it and all of a sudden it was decided that Big Silver Creek would be better than Chehalis L. Possibly it is easier to find and people can arrive whenever they want. After the Cruiser Days event, some will want to go home and shower, and pack their rig for camping. So it seems that everybody will be arriving at different times. We usually leave Big Silver Creek for Labour day because it is easy and if it rains then people can just go home. I haven't been up West Harrison for at least a year, so I don't know how much logging they are doing now.

umm this should be re-thought. If we are being hosts to people from alberta and washington, we should show them a little more excitment than a camp site that a civic can get to.

I agree. The West Harrison/Chehalis area access all sorts of trails from mild scenic to aggresive...

I have to agree with Dan,
I don't think there are a lot of trails to wheel on the east side of Harison, and if you go to the tubs, for one it will be full, then bringing in a bunch of people, not everyone will fit.
I probably will not be able to make the camping trip if it is out there, because I have to get back on Sunday at a reasonable time (big silver is probably an extra hour than going to Chahalis), then get up early on Monday to drive back home.
