Relix you may have seen one of the last survivors when they were close to extinction if it was 17 years ago, what a treat. Did it howl when you were coyote calling??? That's crazy Silvia, makes me wonder what thoughs were;p Cool pics.
no it was just running in to get an easy meal, luckly my father knew what it was & didn't shoot it...

Got back from flag and colorado had a blast. Did imogene, engineer from ouray (nice trail from million dollar highway tuff stuff),cinnamon pass, orphir pass, and some other trails. Followed along w/ a huge jeep rig and k5 blazer up engineer just to show them what a fj cruiser can do. They were quite impressed, the dude in the jeep w/ vanity plates (jeepfun) was taking tons of pictures it was hilarious, my girlfriend and I were also(will post pics as soon as I get them developed and put on cd). My vehicle did better on most parts and I'm fully stock.
In flagstaff I was busting every hill in sight at the cinders, even made it up to the top of suicide hill, from the right side. I pulled out a jeep wrangler that sunk past his tires:whoops: (pics soon) dude's face was soo red and there were 5 heckling retired atv riders giving him hell. They were saying how funny that a toyota was pulling out a jeep, (i was just trying to be political about it)one atv rider bragged about how he has two toyotas at home and japanese engineers are the best. all of them including my girlfriend were snapping pics:) Went up hundred dollar hill after that, in 3rd (adrenline rush)which was a mistake, tryed to downshift, does not happen a 45 degree angle though. had to pull scary turn around and go up another route, but i made it. learned to rev up the hills in 2nd @3000 rpm, before going to the cinders I had never been up dunes so it was a learning experience.
also coming down imogene from telluride met up w/ rich couple w/ rubicon unlimited w/ lift and tires, coming up on an obsticle(wife outside vehicle looking worried). I went down harder line right in front of them, did not scrape(ran it perfect), had to get out of my truck, run up hill, and spot a friend in stock cherokee who was terrified after seeing what I had just done w/ ease. rubicon was watching w/ mouth open while I did the line and when I finally ran up the hill, they proceeded and slammed on a rock:doh: :whoops:it made my bones hurt. My friend in the cherokee was laughing & said that my space shuttle (fjc) performed soo well that he is ready to get one, he could not believe what it could do (japanese engineers again). The whole time 4x4ing I only saw a fj 80 which was sweet w/ arb front bump to rockrail to back bumper(imogene), and 2 sun fusion fjc cruising the passes. Did see a cruiser club from the northwest w/ two identicle 80's w/ best set up I have seen in ouray. Lots of old fj 40's and 60 in colorado but none were wheeling. The best vehicle was an old dodge power wagon in ouray w/ huge sticker on window(No this is not a jeep and no you just would'nt understand!!) If you have not done the cinders or southwest colorado, air down and get going soooo much fun.
Shotts where is poughkeepsie gulch??? Sorry soo long I'm still excited:whoops:

Not sure what those canidae were. But, they were not coyotes, nobody was around at the base where they were spotted, and they seemed to want little to do with people.

Their fur was more white than grey if that helps.

About a year ago in the San Pedro Valley near Cascabel I saw a very large grey coyote/dog/wolf. It ran across the road too quickly for me to grab a picture. It was too big for a coyote and I don't think there are any 'lobos' in the Catalina-Rincon-Galiuro area as they keep a pretty tight lid on the location of the released ones to the NE.

In any event, I have been wondering ever since if it was a wild mexican grey wolf that has made its way up north from mexico. If a once thought extinct jaguar can make it, why not a nearly extinct wolf.

Leaving tomorrow morning for trip to Flagstaff (cinder hills here I come, will take pics), then 5 days in Telluride and 2 days in ouray(hotsprings). Going to be conquering all the passes I can find illium, engineer, redmountain, imogene-probably not going to do black bear yet till I get my upgrades(tires etc..) My father had done blackbear back in the day w/ his 40 cruiser when it was super ruff, someday I'm looking to bust it. I can't believe at the waterfalls you had done that, thats the waterfall at the end when approaching tohelluride from the pass, correct? Relix you may have seen one of the last survivors when they were close to extinction if it was 17 years ago, what a treat. Did it howl when you were coyote calling??? You would of made it down Black Bear with no problem. I ran it in a stock 100 last month.
