If the frame is bent they will probably total it. They might give it a stupid low worth and total it anyway. I could see a shop getting $3K to fix that. If they try to tell you that it's only worth $4K, then it's a total loss.

Be prepared to show the right value and take the time to fight for it. Let ginger tell you the story of his totalled skinner. It'll give you something to shoot for.
Glad to hear you're ok Da'rell! Sorry about the truck though!
If they total it ask them how much to buy it back from them. Then you'd have a dedicated wheeling rig!
Glad your alright, Darrel.
If they total it you can buy it back from the for cheap and still have the money for an SAS.
Frame damage is highly likely. The rear lower control arm mount will do the damage to the frame.
That sucks Daryl, but I am glad to hear that you are alright and that this damage is easily repaired with a SAS. I wish you luck in dealing with the insurance company.
Darrell I am so glad you are okay. At that speed it could have had major suckage. Fight for your settlement and you will likely come out ahead. Best of luck with whatever direction you go in, but know that there is always a bitch seat with your name on it in our group!
I was just tooling down the road to work at about 6:00 am and hit a patch of black ice, couldn't see anything out of ordinary with the road. I must have hit the guard rail at at least 40mph and took it direct to the front drivers side tire, I bent the s*** out of the guard rail - I'll try to get a pic of it when I drive past it next time.
It was pretty damn crazy, I am truly shocked how little(visible at least) damage there was to the 4Runner. I lost my glasses in the accident and found them when I went to get stuff out of the truck, they were in the cargo area.
Don't be in a hurry to settle.
Years ago I was with a buddy in his '69 GTO and we were hit head on and totally distroyed the goat. He refused the settlement two or three times because they wanted to use blue book value on an antique vehicle. First offer was like $1,500 and the final settlement was $9,500. He had all the records for the work we had done to car to that point which helped. It took almost a year to settle but obviously worth the wait in that case.
Glad you're okay. Ditto on the advice you're already getting from everyone else. They're going to do what they can to deflate the value of your truck and then total it out. I got totally jammed up on my '67 LeMans. (Re-badged as a GTO...) It will prolly get a bit discouraging to hear all the tales of loss from the rest of us, but maybe you can find some encouragement and the energy to fight to get your due. Best of luck!
What else was in that coffee??? Im guessing it wasnt just cream and sugar.
Glad you made it out ok. Black ice is a bitch. Hit it once in CO. One minute you are driving down the road next thing you, know you are facing the cars that were behind you.
I got both vehicles and my homeowners insurance with the same company, if they funk me around or lowball me they will, ... well I guess they will do what ever they want. But I will fight like a drunken leprechaun to get my come-up-ens.
I have way too much experiance with this sort of thing. But ive come out ahead everytime....WAY AHEAD!
One of the times....very long story short....they tried to total the 92, after I ended up in the ditch and the wheels where cambered in. They said it was a 92 4runner covered in dents and they would give me 1700$ for it. I said it was worth $12,000. We fought, and by the end they told me it was worth $15,000. And that was before I did the drivetrain swap, which if the receipts existed would be atleast $20K. (I did it for a profit for anyone who may misunderstand and think I spent 20k on a DT swap)
I bet I can tell you what they will do before they do it.
Oh and by the way...I would not be surprised at all if they total it! You have a "poor" condition 4runner. You will have to produce enough receipts and similar 4runners for sale to prove them othewise.
The hard thing for you to prove is that the modifications can total up to enough to cover the body damage. I have an idea of what you have in it as mods....its not a ton....but I guess you dont have that much damage.
the bent frame is the game changer here. (if its bent) If not and all you need is some bolt on suspension parts you wont be totalled.
I bet you are bent. If you are bent you will have to have it porfessionally repaired before the IFS will work right again. While a solid axle cares much less about tweaked frames. Im 80% sure mine is tweaked.
