I'm in the middle of doing a knuckle job, and one of the new bearings is bad and I need to replace it. I'm having a horrible time finding toyota parts locally.
Kragen is useless, Napa is good about half the time.
Bearing Engineering has told me that toyota changes the numbers or modifies things so you can't cross reference the numbers.

I hate having to mail order something I need now/soon.
SOR seems like it takes at least a week, and I'd be alot happier with "a day or two".

I've heard people talk about "going to the dealership" for parts, does that exist in Oakland?

Any leads would be great.
(I want to drive it this weekend!)

Thanks
Mike

Order them from Marlincrawler. They make awesome seals.
I can't recommend any place where you can go in and buy them.
Most places will order them, anyway. Get the extra heavy duty
seals from Marlin (see my sig line). Not affiliated, just like em.

Berkeley Toyota @ 2400 Shattuck. Toyota of Walnut Creek has their parts department open until midnight weekdays and on Saturday and Sunday. However, parts for my FJ60 usually were not in stock. But a telephone call to check is easy.

x2 on berkeley and walnut creek, most of the time it only takes a day.i order stuff from the local toy dealer and they get my parts in w/in 24 hours most of the time.

Stevens Creek Toyota in San Jose extends a large discount to TLCA members - 25%, I think.

Just go to Mudraks. Nice quick trip to Sonoma, and you'll have what you need.

If you go to the dealer be sure to ask for a discount

There is also Alameda Toyota (used to be Ron Goode) -
I always go to San Francisco Toyota and ask for a "jobbers rate" and show them my TLCA card and ask for a discount. I almost always get the discounted price, but it depends on the parts person.
I had Mudraks do mine and they used the Marlin stuff.
good luck...

I got my Koyo wheel bearings at Monument auto parts in the east bay. It is a local chain out here. I have not been to Alameda Toyota but a friend goes there often.

I live in Alameda, and I still buy parts from C.Dan. Every time I have called Alameda's parts dept. they have been WAY more expensive. I am a believer in developing a relationship with your local dealer parts supply, but they have priced themselves out of reach each time. I would be interested in hearing if some one has successfully worked out a better situation there.

My ride is in their shop now for the fuel tank recall. Maybe I will chat them up when I pick it up.

I order mostly from cruiserdan but when I need something quick I go to Dublin Toyota.

I live in Campbell and have all the parts for the job. If you are desperate PM me and I can sell you the part for the price I got it from the dealer for. I will be in Milpitas tomorrow night, at my girlfriend's house which is right off of 880. Just another option for ya.

I'll try Berkeley Toyota and see what happens.
Thanks for all the suggestions and offers!
There seems to be such enthusiasm on this site, it makes me feel a little better about all the work I'm putting into this heap...
