Anyone ever seen one of these. Guy says it is off a HJ61. Toyota OEM 24 volt electric winch with controller.

yeah that is the oem toyota winch that was only sold overseas to best of my knowledge... great find..i hope you are going to refurbish it and use it on your rig.

on second thought...

it is a piece of junk....pure s***. I will give you $50 for it.

I've seen them before (in Japan), but the OEM bumper that came with them stick out WAY too far (IMO), if you're a serious off roader/wheeler.

If not, it should not be a concern and gives you a great place to sit in front of your rig!

If you just need something that works you can probably find a similar pin connector with switches and indicators you could attach.

That is going to be $$$$$$$ NOS and $$$$ used I would guess. Cool.

Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately I haven't found it on the classified section nor I was able to find a similar pin connector with switches and indicators. Any lead? Thanks!

Which explains the nickname "front porch".

Even here in Okinawa they are a rare find. The 92 Prado EX I just bought has one on it and it WORKS, at least the electric portion works I.e.remote and in and out, the clutch is another story. It won’t disengage, lever won’t push in or out and won’t rotate. PB blaster multiple times, light tapping, moves just a tiny fraction. Trying to avoid removing fender and winch. We’ll see.

Update: small screw (probably lubrication point) on case around clutch was removed and drowned in PB and aftert some gentle persuasion it broke free and I can now engage and disengage the clutch, 1 issue down, on to the next. Slow starting.

s***. I just swapped my 12 volt 8274 that was in good condition for a 24 volt one of these without the remote. The guy told me it was a factory winch and I thought that it was the 8274 rebranded. Looks like Im going to be up s*** creek without a paddle. Bad trade i guess

Yeah I don't like your chances on finding one of those remotes.

It is super easy to wire in an in cab rocker switch that will winch in and out. My winch I have both remote and switch in cab. If you are 4x4ing with one other person there is no real need for the remote if you have an in cab switch.

If you really want a remote you could just buy a Warn remote and female connection and put that in temporary till you find a Toyota remote.

I wouldn't be too upset, the Toyota winch is super cool and still easy to make work!

Hey thanks for the input. So are you saying that a 24v 8274 remote will work? Because I originally thought it was a 24v 8274 without a remote, I bought one last night. I managed to track down the part number because the 12v and 24v 8274 remotes DO have separate part numbers. Anyway, itll be here on Monday.
I actually just thought thats what I will do is wire an in cab switch. Will put in my tuffy box maybe with my compressor switch. But are you saying that the Warn remote will work? So I just have to buy the female warn connector and swap it over? Im assuming that will be a part unique to the 24v 8274 as well. Thanks again for the response I appreciate it! Been learning lots from you guys.

Nah I'm not sure they are the same, they may well be, they are very similar from memory.
What I was saying was worst case they arnt the same, it would be easy to swap your current female end over to the Warn female end and just use a Warn remote.

The only difference I'd think in a 12v and 24v remote would be maybe the rocker switch and the wire diameter. 24v wiring is smaller than 12v.
Again both easily changed to 12v if required.

You should try and find a wiring diagram for the Toyota winch. If not, wiring in the Warn remote may require some trial and error, as the Warn remote doesn't have the 'overheat' light so there will be extra wires that you won't be using.
