I posted in the Unobtainium thread incorrectly. Some ideas...

1972-1974 wiper arms (85190-90301).

1969-1974 wiper motor (85110-60080).

Last run of the 2Fs (19000-61211).

Early 70s door handles (69310-60031, 69320-60031).

Wiring harnesses.

A/C (88300-60082). Would that work for an entire install?

A/C radiator? (16400-61030)

5 speed or just the top plate.

Front and rear driveshafts would be nice, but no one complains about those (37140-60090, 37110-60150).

I prefer the 3FE exhaust manifolds (17141-61080, 17142-61050).

Would a 13BT run work for the 3B folks (19000-58421 or the sorts)?

I'm very excited to see this coming to fruition. The lead engineer on this project from Japan reached out to me last year and I've supplied a massive list with the help of @Onur @cruiserdan and others. I'm still discussing the project so if you have a legitimate list (remember, stop, start, turn items... no trim, no sheetmetal, etc). Feel free to forward it to me and I'll include it in our master request list.
In addition to the 19220-61102 8/80-8/87 dual diaphragm advancer mentioned in Post #1, I'd add the 19220-61021 8/76-9/77 single diaphragm advancer. The -61021's vacuum advance curve is well suited to all early 2F distributors, especially the 1/75-8/76 19100-61020 vacuum retard distributor - it's a direct "bolt-in" fit and for all practical purposes it turns the -61020 vacuum retard distributors into -61021 vacuum advance distributors. And because it has the same vacuum advance curve as the main diaphragm on the 9/77-7/80 distributors, it's well suited for those as well (needs to be retrofitted by adding a simple mounting bracket and a sleeve so it fits in the larger 17mm ID bore specific to those model years).

Quite a few of the 8/80-8/87 distributors I've been refurbishing recently have had a fair amount of pitting in the stationary (breaker) plate races, preventing smooth vacuum advance even after cleaning and reassembly using new OEM ball bearings and high quality distributor grease. Luckily I've been able to salvage several good assemblies from the two big cap distributors I've converted to points and to Pertronix ignition. I've also encountered the same issue with the 9/77-7/80 stationary plates. Both are NLA, so I'd add 19122-88262 and 19122-45070 to the list.

Two other NLA distributor parts I'd add to the list are 19195-61100 (9/77-8/87) and 19195-60040 (3/69-9/77) distributor gear, which includes the pin. These two gears cover at least 19 years of F and 2F production (I'm pretty sure the same gear was used on all F distributors prior to 3/69 as well). The only caveat is that I rarely find it necessary to replace the gears.

To re-cap:

19220-61102 vacuum advancer 8/80-8/87
19220-61021 vacuum advancer 8/76-9/77
19122-88262 stationary plate 8/80-8/87
19122-45070 stationary plate 9/77-7/80
19195-61100 spiral gear w/pin 9/77-8/87
19195-60040 spiral gear w/pin 3/69-9/77

For vacuum advancer 19220-60072 seems to be the international part valid from 1969 to 1982. Looks like 61021 and a few others are market specific.
The 19220-60072 advancer won't physically fit in US market 2F distributors from 1/75-9/77, the ID of the distributor housing bore is only 15mm and the OD of the advancer body is 17mm. Likewise they won't fit the US market 2F distributors from 8/80-8/87.

Oh ok thanks for the info, weird that Toyota didn't standardized the size once everyone was on vacuum advance.

19220-60072 would be a logical addition to the list due to its widespread usage worldwide. It too is NLA.

Curious to see if any body panels show up as part of this. I know its looking like that's not the case and they've stated so... but only a few years back they made a limited re-run of the fenders. So they must have some ability to do some body parts.

Good stuff guys, thanks for doing that.

I think one of the key “heritage” factors wrt the 4X series rigs (and 55’s and 60’s) is that we, the owners and operators, can work on, maintain and upgrade as necessary our vehicles - not having to rely on someone else to do that. Their simplicity in functionality is principal. And it’s not necessarily a money thing per se, but as much having to do with pride as well as availability (not having to wait on shop time, etc,). This is not in any way dissimilar with other classic car arenas, domestic or foreign. I’m not talking about the $100k+ restorations that see nothing but pavement and mall/coffee parking lots, but everyday restorations that provide dependable transportation in all sorts of environments for all sorts of activities. With that opinion said, I don’t expect (but I love being proved wrong!) anything from this program to benefit my needs, but I certainly imagine it will for others. Diatribe over.

One “marketing” item I‘ll throw out for S&G’s is the AISIN SD40 blue or grey carburetor fuel sump backing plate. When a “barn” find pops up on Mud, and it has an original SD40 carb on it, that’s usually one of the first pics people post in their intro thread. Doesn‘t say Toyota, but points exclusively to Toyota.

Oops. Well there is 11 now 🥴.
Did not realize. Carry on!

Without OE tubs I am kind of at a loss.
How about crate GD, VD, GR, or UR drivetrains that are complete with wiring harness and ECU?

Does anyone have any reliable statistics on the number of FJ40's registered in the US and global markets? To help determine the viability of any parts program, the size of the universe is an important variable. I've not read anything yet that talks about this.

I intend to do the survey, but I was out of FJ40's since the early 1990's, until last year. What parts are currently the worst unobtainiums that should be voted on to try to make sure they are at the top of the list? My engine (2F) seems to be in pretty good shape at least right now but I don't know what parts breaking could change that quickly. I had a rear heater go out and a fuel pump but I got both replaced and they seem to be working fine. I could use some floor mats but that seems like a waste of a vote considering you can buy some form of replacement from other suppliers. Are there 1 or 2 items that have become a dead end for a lot of people? Until I started working on my current Cruiser I didn't realize how much had changed as well as how much I have forgotten.
