I don't think the FJ cruiser switch would fit the 80.

now if only toyota had made a 3 way switch for a driving light/fog light combo set.

They already do.. its just has a picture of the Rear Heater Fan on it :)
It even says Hi and Lo on it for (Driving and Fog lights)
Refer to this post about the pinout of the Rear Heater switch used as a Driving/Fog combo switch.

Jacque, would an 84140-20670 work as well? I think that is the Scion switch...

That's an expensive switch. At least in Japan it is!

Toyota had this type (see attached pics) of fog switch on both LC80 (for JDM 80 with built-in and aux. fog lights, and Surf/4Runner).

I "think" it allows you to have two sets of lights come on with the marker/headlights.
But you can use only one set of fog/aux. lights at a time and not both on simultaneously(sp.)
Does that make any sense?

The OEM set-up was for two sets of fog lights (one built-in and another aux.).
BUT I would have a set of fog lights which I would use for around town or for foul weather and a pair of driving lights for rural roads, if that works.

BUT I don't know if they (aux. lights) turn off when you flash the lights or get the high beams on or stay on. (My '90 Integra's built-in fog turned off whenever I turned on the highbeams.)

Anyway, just an F.Y.I.

John,

I'm not sure if this is a "high-low" switch or exactly what it does or how it works:doh:, but I think I can still get it (It shows "available" on my dated EPC.

I think it just lets you choose which set of aux. lights you want to run with your headlights.

I'll check with Toyota and let you know if it can still be had (It is a part of an OEM fog kit from 11 years ago).

Why would you want to order another fog?:grinpimp:

Mot, from the looks of the connector in post #46 (only 3 wires) I'm guessing that switch doesn't light up at all? 1 wire for common ground, and 1 wire each to provide power to each set of lights. Do they make one like that, which also has backlighting?

Cool switch graphic though.

Where to tap for illumination?

All this being said...I'm using the Toyota switches for my Aux lights but I don't have them wired to be illuminated.

Anyone know an easy place to tap into the "lights" circuit so my switches are illuminated at night?

You are correct. The switch does not light up.

And I'm not aware of any Toyota switches that have those functions AND light up.

I dont have my aux. switches wired up yet but I have heard of people wiring directly to the rheostat wires.

mot, I want that switch! there must be a way it will work for an isolated harness for aftermarket dual fog/driving lights like mine. the auto dimming with high beams if fogs on would be gravy.

Tap into the green wire and the green/white wires on any illuminated dash switch.

Switches are easy to get, but... How about the plugs?
I've just installed backside fog light (In order to comply with EC cars normative and get my legal plates!) I had to unwind a new cable, as my LX-450 hasn't got factory one (Of course new relay, etc..)

In europe, factory backside foglights are in the back door.

CDan is working on plugs for me for the rear heater switch and the antenna up/down switch. If the part numbers turn out to be right, and if they are actually available, I'll post them up.

We sure are lucky to have Dan around here....

Simon/T.D. and John,

I'm going to Toyota in a little while and find out if the switch is still available or not.

I'll let you know.

Yeah, I guess the nearest to the switches will be something off the instrument cluster. I was hoping I wouldn't have to dig that deep. I guess I could also look at the driver door switches also. Finding a green and green/white might not be so difficult.
