now if only toyota had made a 3 way switch for a driving light/fog light combo set.

They did and I have one in my truck. switches the fog lights on that are part of the head lights in one position. The middle is off and the 3rd position is a supply to the extra lights mounted on the bull bar.

Cheers

Picture? :grinpimp: Or even better, part number?

I think I got all my Q's answered for my hi/lo driving lights project in

https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=192180

Now I just need a switch to turn 'em off & on.

Man, I have read this thread twice, & I just cannot figure out what was settled on as the correct pn for the switch in post #1.

If I got it right, pn 84160-28070 is a typo. Is 84160-04010 the correct pn for the switch in post #1 ?

Anybody used this OEM dual switch for IPFs with fogs/spots? I can't stand the IPF switch (sticky tape it to my dash or what?!?!?) and would just LOVE to replace it with something like this.

Or perhaps has anyone used two separate single switches for the dual IPFs?

MOT can you get the wiring pigtail with the switch?

How bout using a rear heater switch instead? :)

It can be illuminated for both "HI" and "LO" beams and you can get a fog sticker to replace the "REAR HEAT" text and fan

Good idea, I probably need to do the same thing.

Are you running IPFs on this switch? I guess I'm more trying to find if somebody's running the dual fog/spot IPFs on something other than the IPF provided switch...

No, I use it to toggle back and forth between the stock horns and the train horns ;)

However, it can easily be wired to work as an IPF switch

is that part number a typo? www.toyotapartsales.com says "No Parts Found."

That does not come up as a valid part number.

TRY THESE:

84160-04010 SWITCH
90980-11090 CONNECTOR
82998-12340 PIG TAIL X 4

On www.trdparts4u.com type in fj-fogsw should give a kit price

$54.99 shipped.

Jacque

I cannot find a definite conclusion to the switch part number that started this thread. Would like to order one from CDan but would prefer to know what I'm talking about first.

So what is the number for the switch in post #1?

The switch that started this post and is located at the top is 84160-28070.

EDIT 8-18-08

This is a typo. The actual part number is 84160-28010 and it is still a live number as of this date.

EDIT 6-17-10..............

This part number has been discontinued and is no longer available.

Thanks Dan. It won't show up on any of the online Toyota part searches....of course they probably aren't as omnipotent as a parts Shaman's search engine! :D

I'll check in with you in a few days and put another order in.

Potential Alternatives...

I've found some switches that might work some of you...

I've started a thread here if you want to check it out! :grinpimp:

Forget about the fog light switch, I like the headlamp washer!

Another luxury our top of the line US models never got!

Did you get the height adjuster for the headlight beam - just scroll up or down and the headlight beam follows. It stops you blinding oncoming traffic when travelling with a load in the back at night..

Nope.

I think the DOT is worried that our drivers are too stupid to adjust them correctly or that it would give us the ability to adjust them up on purpose.

Come to think of it, most of our drivers are too stupid to adjust them correctly.

Can any other switches be used to turn fog/driving lights on and off? Such as the hazard switch or rear defrost?

Yes, a rear defrost switch can be used as fog light switch. I do have pictures but they are at home. I can post them later.

awesome, I thought it would be cool to put in the vertical position by the mirror switches and have the on light for the defroster illuminated for when they are on. Plus there is that thread for making your own labels for the switches.

That's exactly what I did. I just have to re-label them now.
