Any reason you wouldn't want to mount the spare tire carrier to the trailer frame and not have to try and reinforce the trailer to tub? Keep the spare tire carrier independent of the trailer tailgate.

I'm looking at under mount options too. Just feels like a bad spot for it (to me) for some reason.
Never had a problem with mine. Mine sits in front of the axle and about 2" behind the leg stand.

I was originally planning on doing that, but lost the spare tire winch off of my 100...tore the shop apart looking for it, no dice.
 
I've got one for an 80
 
Where is a good spot to pick up a spare rim for a m416?
