Any reason you wouldn't want to mount the spare tire carrier to the trailer frame and not have to try and reinforce the trailer to tub? Keep the spare tire carrier independent of the trailer tailgate.

Never had a problem with mine. Mine sits in front of the axle and about 2" behind the leg stand.
Mine's in the same spot. Rode fine through the Ozarks.
I stole the spare carrier from underneath that Grand Wagoneer and rigged it up under the frame. Several shots...
Mine's not that cool. Got a spare crank off @USMC22 80 and bolted it to the frame. Wobbles a little, so I plan to play with it a little to reinforce it.

Awesome. I will probably take it. Lemme look around under there the next few nights make sure I am good with mounting it up. The tongue extension I did makes it different from the ones above.
Since the tongue on mine has water and gas it's heavy so mine being under the rear is best for my trailer it's never hit anything.
