Don't think that hasn't crossed my mind.

Its an option, they have a car lot "Don's Wholesale" on HWY 90 in Broussard, La that has a Winnebago.

truck info added

Heading to GSMTR in Tennessee, mpg was pretty much the same going and coming. Hills, head wind etc. effect my mileage but this is what my BONE STOCK 2012 ½ ton , 4door, 2wd, V-8 5.7L Hemi gets pulling a 20’ pipe rail trailer (10 ply trailer tires) with 4Runner on it.

As most have seen I travel heavy , the bed of the truck is full, the back seat is full and usually fill up the space in front the 4Runner on the trailer also. The truck pulls this load easy and can drive 90 mph no trouble at all (I’ve done it briefly to get out of traffic). I prefer to stay at slower speeds incase something goes wrong with the truck or trailer, easier to control . The numbers speak for themselves the faster I drive the worst the mpg numbers gets.

What I like most about the truck…. I LOVE the automatic transmission in this truck ( On overpasses it down shifts 800 rmp’s and will hold the overpass / hill climb, unlike the gas Chevy’s or GMC, they go straight to red line on the simplest overpass / hill climb)

What I dislike about the truck…. I miss my diesel :frown: , just being honest. But I don’t miss the added $$$ for everything from oil changes, to fuel filter to just the price of diesel fuel.

The mileage below is with the factory 20's. I get better mileage when I put the factory 17's on it. But I like the look of the 20's :grinpimp:

Louisiana to Hattiesburg Mississippi = 68-70 mph = 11.7 mpg

Mississippi to Alabama = 73-75 mph 10.3 mpg

Alabama to Tennessee = 68-70 mph 12.1 mpg

So what kind of mileage does others pulling get ?

it`s difficult to gauge short runs as only have a dip stik for the saddle tanks:D
but runnn a bio/diesel blend made 8 mpg over all.
ata rest stop north of Picayune stop & changed the program toped off in Picayune with the head wind at an average of 65mph made 10mpg my GVW with Vader is 24K

added so with Thor at 9K B hauling 15k

Wanted to weigh the 80 loaded on the trailer but didn't take the time seems like we're always on a mission:), I averaged my normal 15 set at 65 as well. I also wanted to run a tank on no program vs the next step up on the mini-max to see if there was any change but didn't think about it when tanking up so I ran it there and back on the mild setting going and coming.

well after 2300 miles in the last month have a fairly accurate mpg.

at a GVW of 24000 lb to the hills of eastern Tn n back & the Ozark`s on BIO 7.75 mpg @ 63 mph

on pump diesel 10 mpg @ 63.

at that rate need to start puttin coins in the piggy for the west next year:D

Ya keep running BIO and you will have coins for that piggy

yea really don`t c a power difference towing just mpg

But you do see a big $/m difference.

Sounds inline to me you always want better but for the weight u toting don't sound horrible. I still think 12 is achievable :)

yea am working toward that area up grade the turbo faster spool

Ok, on my way up to super lift, cruise set on 68, stock tune, goose neck, and papa Smurf, 9.5 mpg all interstate Lafayette to shreveport.

Shreveport to Hot Springs 60 mpg, stock tune, no cruise, 11.5 all interstate.

Hot springs to Gueydan, almost all surface roads, no cruise, 60 and below depending on airlines and going through Towns. Still 11.5.

It does you're much much better around 70, once it gets under 1800 rpm it its kinda gutless with this much weight. I imagine on setting #3 (no clue what that setting is but it is snappy but not smoky) it would do much better. Going to get my gages before the next run. If I get the diesel in papa I am going to be gage poor from all the pyro, and boost gages.

What kinda diesel you putting in papa?

recommend dual EGT so can monitor both heads

Paired with that 8 Spd tranny I think it'll be a big win for Dodge on an already successful 1/2 ton chassis. I see dozens of lifted 3/4 ton PU's heading into Broussard everyday and to think half of them rarely tow anything to justify that much truck I think many would step down to a 1/2 ton diesel if you could still get the job done with it and there is no reason it shouldn't see a nice difference in fuel economy over the Hemi V8's.

Not sure how the 3.0 V-6 diesel will pull ,,,,,,,,,,,, but this straight 6 Cummins 6.7 sure seems like it will get the job done :grinpimp: Might be time for a bigger blue floor jack.
