My Dodge CTD is running around 2K rpms at 70 and that is with a 3.55 gear. Just so you know, I have a buddy that hasn't had a lick of trouble out of his 6.0. Every 6.0 on the Air Base has been to the shop with turbo problems but all they ever do is put around the base. You have to work em' to keep em' running right!

In efforts to get a couple more mpg and make some trailer fund cash I sold and swapped my lift kit with the wheels and tires. A co worker's 6.0HD received the 6" lift kit, dual shocks kit, along with the 35's on 20" wheels. While I installed the stock items from his truck onto the Duramax. After 3.5 men x 18 hours of labor we drove our trucks home with a tape measure alignment. According to the dash computer I went from 18 mpg to 20 mpg at 60mph, but its hard to judge from that how much it really helped. It is a step in the right direction.

lookin good !

X2 looks good John and should be a lot less harder on the truck shedding all that extra beef. You're definitely headed in the right direction. I get asked all the time why I keep those little tires on the Dodge it looks funny, its all about the towing and mpg's :)

looks good John.

Driving style has an effect on mpg. Your mpg is about average (especially when you consider that a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton 4x4 will not get that kind of mpg, 13-15 average on gas truck)
The dash display in all of the newer trucks I've owned were never accurate. Only by hand calculating when I tanked up could I tell what mpg the truck was really getting.
I like the look of the factory 3/4 ton rims.

Looks good and makes more sense to me. Good move!

was just reading through the thread.

If you like to buy gas... something like a 07 K2500 GM pickup with 6.0 gas engine is worthy ( I have the new body style).

I doubted the ability of the 6.0 engine until I bought one.... has 6 speed automatic, 4wd, 3.73 gears.

Avg mpg on hwy something like 14-15 unloaded... towing my crap... in the hills around 7mpg, on flat ground 9.

The dmax of the same year is one of the best in my view (in the gm line) ....but you'll pay 5 to 7k more for the dmax vs the gas engine in the used market from what I was seeing in the GM line.

I'm towing approx 9K in weight (trailer + FJ60)... If I were to go with much more weight I would jump over into the deisel game.

I like the 7.3 Ford, and some of the Cummins dodge trucks. But would prefer a manual trans with both.

Just throwing it out there for the gas burner if someone was not towing heavy (north of 10K). I purchased a better trailer hitch as the GM OEM version is not suitably rated for a 3/4 truck.

That tach rolls faster with stock tires than it did with the big'ens. You should be able to change the rate with a tuner.

Nice! Why do I remember you having a Dodge at GSMTR '10?

because I had a 2006 dodge at that run. decided to downsize the tow rig and get a better DD. drove the chevy for a while. If began falling apart around me, decided to just spend a little more money on a tow rig in decent shape rather than having a project/towrig. now that I wont have to wrench on my tow rig constantly I willf inally be able to get back on the 4runner.

7.3 6 speed

Congrats bud, looks like a good one I hope that's a 7.3 under the hood :)

NA or turbo?

Need to post the pics of Paul's 450 in here would like to see the before and after pics I heard he's done an awesome job on it and also Scott's new to him Tow rig. We're getting quite the nice tow fleet in here :)

I think I'm done towing after this swap....it just won't make sense anymore. Besides, I lost my (ability to borrow a) trailer.

Although, that "nice tow fleet" statement probably didn't apply to me anyway
