I'm out of town on call and dont have access to any of my tools. I'm going to remove the running boards this afternoon and fellow workers garage. What toold should I get to do the job without having to buy any other needless stuff?
Thanks

Safety glasses/goggles! That's all I remember.

a metric socket set. the rear most bolts are a different size don't need to be removed. And +1 on the glasses.

Anyone remember size of of sockets, I am familiar with the need for metric. Lookign for 14mm or 12mm if anyone knows. Big ass phillips?
I will wear the specs for sure!

I want to say 14 but i'm not sure. the parts store should let you run out to your car and check the size.

I want to say 10mm and 8mm is needed but can't recall. The passenger side is a PITA, there are some hoses running near the front passenger side bolts that you have to move out of the way to get to the running board bolts. I removed the brackets holding the hoses and was able to barely get in there. +2 on safety glasses! It also helps to remove the actual running boards from the brackets first (took that from a thread on this forum), then remove the brackets.

greenbeast, I just checked the bolts (still have them in my garage) and they are 10mm. Good luck.

I would recommend reinstalling the bolts to keep water and dirt out.

Sorry, should've specified. I did reinstall the ones for the brackets. The other bolts (the ones that hold the actual running board to the bracket) are sitting in my garage.

I figured probably 10, 12 and 14mm. I hate to buy that many tools as I have everything a couple times over back home. This will help for sure. The fella helping me will most likely have em but want to make sure.

Yeah I intend on putting the screws back into the holes they came from. Sucks to hear abou tthe passenger side but oh well has to be done!

I had to take off the body mount to get mine off, that one is larger than the others if memory serves.

Alright it is done! 10 and 12mm are the required sockets. I removed 1 nut and 1 bolt holding some hoses which blocked the front passenger bracket overall about an hour work overall. Even though I went through car wash to knock snow and Ice off (snowed maybe a foot last 2 days) I ate some serious dirt!

All in all I'm pleased with results and shall post pics tomorrow.
Thanks all for the help.
