...and blacked them out and put them straight back on. I used the same stuff DMC used on his rig. It's duplicolor bed liner in a spray can. Picked it up at checker.

I've only ever seen pics of flareless 80s and now seeing mine up close and personal without flares, I've reassured myself that I love the look with flares a million times better.

I also NEED to go to OME J up front and throw on some 315s/35s... :p

Anyway, enjoy the pics. (First ones are from cell phone...)

1. Front before. Anyone else's flares do this? It looks totally faded, but it seemed to buff right out. Only this front and the small flare section on the rear door on this same side.
2, Minus flares.
3. Better pic of mostly minus flares.

I've decided it needs a few more pieces blacked-out for it to totally work for me. This damn crappy maroonish-red bugs me one day, and the next it doesn't. At least it's not green I guess... LOL

That Duro stuff is tough if applied right. I've used it on my bumpers, mirrors, etc. I even have it on the door handles, which get a lot of wear. It holds up great and is easy to fix if it gets scraped.

I'd run some black along the rocker/ bottom of the doors to 'tie in' the front and rear flares. Otherwise, I like the look.

I like the Burgundy, too. I've actually tired of white - my paint is shot and she's going all Durabak next month.

Your rig could use some 37's now with all that black, it would really balance things out :D

This would get great. The rocker plus a little door like 6 inches or so.

nice. once you add the blacked out hood it will look aweseome. black rims? i agree with you on the maroon. but then again all he early 80s i saw were maroon so it might be conditioning. oh and nice to see you pimpin the exam sticker. my flares are holding up great so far with the exception of the quito bus. For the record I got the idea from mr trunk monkey fillmore.

all this talk of black... ;)

I think it looks pretty good too. Almost going all murdered out. just the hood and roof left.

I think it looks good with the black flares, I think a all flat black 80 would be sick.

i think this tuner obsession has changed someones priorities around here .......................... ;)

a whole hour and no pic of this guy yet;p

looks good ferg!!! i agree w/ connecting the two via the rocker panel w/ black as well. Thats good stuff too, i did the lower half of my pig w/ no prep and its held up well to the branches on the tighter trails.

Love the change. I have the same color 80 and was thinking about doing the same thing only with texturized stuff. I tried to photoshop the change this past weekend, but seeing the results in picture is way better! Awesome job!

Ever think about what blacking out the mirrors on your set up would look like?

Can't tell who you're talking to... But if me, the stuff I used on my flares IS texturized--its just not as gritty as herculiner and the like.

And black mirrors do look sweet. Check out the last pic of mine.
