So as we were unloading from the FG my Dad starts his car and there is a rumbling under the hood. Its a Scion TC. Now it sounds like an alternator bearing but could also be a water pump or AC compressor. Any suggestions on the best way to diagnose? I haven't really had a chance to look at it in any great legnth since I had to leave for work right away.

Take the belt off and twist the pullies to see if one binds up more or has any slop in it... just a thought... good luck
How did the Scion get under the hood?
My wife's Scion XD had a sound and it ended up being the water pump. Luckily the car was still under a extended warranty and was fixed for free. They did show the price and it would have been $600 to fix.
Ouch. $600. Hopefully its now the water pimp. I really don't want to get into that.
take a long long screw driver and put one and on the alt and the other to you ear like a stethoscope, see witch pulley is louder.
