On it's way, not really looking forward to the install.
Exhaust studs always break! Going to hit the studs every night with PB Blaster
and hope for the best.

Put an aussie locker in the rear of the cruiser today. Have not had it on the trail yet, but could not tell it was there while driving on the road. That is one more item checked off a big list.

Got the H55 fitted and supported on its own mount. Just got to add some gussets and do some finish welding. Just a crappy cell phone pic but at least is a pic.

I broke the wifes camera last time I used it. She was not amused.

Arrived today, nice quality, stainless with some improvements over stock. Completely
welded where the 2 pipes go into the collector. Then there is a gusset welded to the 2 pipes.
May try and get it on Sunday.

Hey Lane, these front pipes aren't always a drop in on the 80s. I have always pulled the exhaust manifolds to do it. It has to do with getting them aligned so there is no leaks at the manifold/pipe gaskets.

What I do is have the manifolds on the engine with the nuts just tight enough to hold them in place but they are still able to move.

I then install the pipe completely and leave the tightening of the manifolds for last. That way they move to match the pipe.

You'll see what I mean if you take off the manifolds. They have a single hole that is sized for the stud and the rest are really over-sized just for this purpose.

Lane - Just curious where you got the y-pipe/cat. Mine was leaking at the y but I was able to weld it up. I also had to put in a magnaflow cat that has been working great so far.

My recent wrenching.... NEW SHOES!! Can't wait to try them out on some trails. Got some minor rubbing to deal with still. Had to move the exhaust already and am running a 1/4" spacer in the front. Bought some rims with 2.5 inch backspacing that these will eventually go on. Oh yeah... 36x12.5 TSL SXs

Tires look good! Had the same issues with 36's when I put them on. Rubs on the exhaust and innners on the rear and the fronts hit the front lip of the fender.

Not what I wanted to hear Rick! The nuts on the manifold to the pipe are in good shape but the ones that hold it to the head are really bad. I can see this turning into a nightmare!

Not really, the studs just turn out of the head with little resistance. My approach would be to cut the front pipe off of the manifold, take off the manifolds and then work on the studs that hold the pipe onto the manifold. I've had way more issues with those 4 studs than any of the ones that hold the manifold to the head.

I've been working on this, my very first carpentry project. The house's original shed is 50 years old and falling apart.

Lets hope you can still get the mower out afterwards.

You might want to check those window and door rough openings. In MA there needs to be a double 2x8 header with jack studs on either end.

I'm not sure if you are there yet but a second top plate needs to be added as well.

Plans for the building came from a CT company. I purchased the plans, video and book for $50. Maybe some of the standard framing practices are not used since it is just a barn. The city building inspector looked over the plans before I was issued a permit. I have made some changes such as going to 16" centers instead of the 24" called for in the plans.

The tractor could probably make it out the front door because it has 4 wheel steering; however, if you look at the shadows, you can see sunlight coming in the other doorway on the side. Can't see it in the pic. I was making sure the tractor would fit through the doorway.

Going for this look. Working the whole project solo. Trusses are next.

well, the side with the windows is a load bearing wall and definitely need headers above the door and windows. You get a few feet of wet snow up there along with the weight of the roof and I doubt those 2x4s will support that weight.

I grew up in a construction household and have built quite a few houses including my own and the garage.

I'd be happy to come up and help you get those items put in.

Got this thing on today, spent the better part of 6 hours but its done and doesn't leak.
Broke one stud off the manifold but there was enough sticking out so I could weld
another to it and bolt it up.
Pretty impressed with the header, they said it is an exact fit and they were right on.
Cat is a bit smaller than stock, gives about an inch more ground clearance. So
For under $300 I think it's a pretty good deal.

I installed Bilstein shocks, finally got my cruiser on the road and couldnt wait to drive it. Now my front leaves are bent...
