Been having some trouble with the welds on the frame I'm doing and it's driving me Nucking Futs.

I wouldnt worry about it too much, you know those plates arent going to be the next thing to break on that frame.

Finally got my 4.88 gears and front/rear ARB lockers installed. I'd like to say I did it myself, but it was a very difficult job and I have to thank Nat and Ryan for their hard work. The IFS front end fought them the whole way. I was only usefully running air lines and some minor tasks. It's all done except for a trashed front CV axle that we needed to just about beat off the truck due to a bad thread.

Now I just need to hit the trails on the 22nd to see what the new set-up can do.

**Oh and I'm now saving up for some 33" MTs which I hope to have on by May also**

glad you got it done. That's a lot of work!

amazingly ARB did provide us with the side shims so we dident have to wait on them from Toyota  I would however like to meet the person who designed the rear e-break on this truck so i can drown them in cat pee  it took both Ryan and I to get these back together you need 4 hands since everything is behind the axle with no room to remove the springs. The whole e-break assembly need to be removed to pull the e-break cable to remover the rear axle shaft:bang:...Steve time for a full floating 80 series axle in the rear...and the front:D

it was how ever all worth it for the ARB's Steve is going to have alot of fun this summer, there is not much that will hold back this 4runner now

Success! The Land Cruiser is fixed! Found another bad fuse and now the trans shifts exactly as it should. :)

I still have things to do (rebuild front axle, new muffler) but the "trouble" is fixed.

Electrical lesson learned, slow and methodical. ;)

Nat came back today and got the new CV axle in and wrapped everything up. We took it for a test drive and tried the lockers. Everythings feels great!! I'm looking forward to wheeling with the lockers and having the 4.88 gears for larger tires. I've already got a buyer for my current set of wheels and tires, so 33s will be on shortly.

THANKS AGAIN NAT & RYAN!!

Hey Ryan. Admit it, deep down you love the IFS front end:bang: You're better off without the nerves in that finger anyway. It won't be the last time you mash it up ;)

Great job. The gears are super quiet and feel great.

My wrenching this week.

YouTube - VID 00001.3GP

Found a friend a 1979 XR250 (after hammering on a track last year on my 500) for $100, guy said something was wrong with the motor.

Turns out it spit out a shim on the heads, causing a rocker to move around and destroy the cam, rockers and journals. In the pile o parts with the bike was a brand new cam from honda (where they found that I have no idea). So, with a gasket set and an ebay head, I rebuild and swapped it all over, and she fired on the third kick.

He is into the bike for about $175 total. Awesome.

and he owes me beer.

not awesome. It is puking oil out the cylinder by the exhaust port. Like a faucet.

Guess I will be back into it.

Got my longfield axles and bir ough, Longfields oops, Going to Wallys this weekend to swap in my newly acquired H41 tranny (thanks leaping deer) getting a 3 speed t-case (thanks Wally),,,,whooooo hoooo can't wait, Test it at Swanzey

Yep, lots of pebbles in the strainers, oil change, replaced the overpressure valve, good to go. Pressure washed the front wall which has been on the honey do list for a year.

Replaced the muffler on Bette's Honda, those things are not cheap!
Took longer to get the old one off than I would have liked.
Then moved on to the 80. Tried to remove the trailer hitch from the receiver. The wire
clip was rusted into the pin, had to cut that off. Pin was rusted into the receiver, beat that out with a hammer. Ball is rusted into the receiver, hooked a chain to it and wrapped the other end around a tree
and tried pulling it out that way, didn't budge. Not sure what the next step is.
Tried to take that mobile phone out. That led to all sorts of problems. As soon as I unplugged it the truck wouldn't start, alarm went off, bunch of other weird electrical stuff happened. Door locks kept closing, turn signal would work. Disconnected the battery, charged it for a while. Put the phone back in. Hooked the battery back up and it was fine.
Done screwing with that.
Moved onto the 40. Been meaning to adjust the starter solenoid, took that out a few times and have it working a bit better but I think I may just get another starter.
Last fall when I parked the truck I had a very bad death wobble. haven't done anything except new tires
(radial TSL's) took it out today for the first time and it ran so smooth! I still want to take a shim or 2 out of each pinion bearing and tighten those up a bit to see if that helps too.
Starting to get the urge to wheel.
Tons of the local kids keep driving by in their mud covered Cherokee's, wish they were a bit more responsible and stay off the trails until it dries out a bit.
