Nice spring day.

:) I spent most of the day in the garage, not all of it.;)
I was on my way to Sanborn's tires in Haverhill when I flew by the Tire Warehouse and I remembered Lanes post, so I stoped in, and what great service.:p I had the new rims mounted and they came out well. I also installed the new wheel spacers, ( only in the front ) to give me a wider stance w/o changing to a wider axle. :D
The new valve stems fit nice. Not all of the tires balanced out, 2 did well and the other 2 so so. I added the Dyna beads back in @ home. :whoops: I also marked the tire and rim so I can tell if it moves (wheel spin).:grinpimp:

Looks good, I like those rims.

Finally got around to doing some work on the FJC. Getting ready to go down to Rausch Creek over easter with the fjnortheasters.
Painted and reinstalled all the richochet skids, picked up some more goodies- cobra CB, new OME sport shocks for the rear, richochet trans skid, and hit up sears for some more tools.
On another note not cruiser related the owner of the farm I work/live at buys old cushman trucksters so I rebuilt the carb, new clutch, and a little tune up and got the latest one running....for now.
Looking forward to hitting the trails with you guys this summer.
here's some pics

I started pulling the seats, trans cover, fuel tank and some other stuff in preparation for the SM465 swap; I won't miss the 3-speed.

What valve stems are those?

They are the ones from Summit Racing the stem screws in and out. I've been running them for 8 years or so. It's one of the best kept secrets ;) Cheap to $16.00 all the way around :p

Damn that's cool. Ever have problems with ice / mud getting crammed in there?

made 2 new door panels. unfortunately I need to pull one off, strip the pleather, and re-cut the bottom so the door will close. Look great but I sure do suck at projects

Installing this stuff today. Removing ATs and installing MTs for the season. Changing rear springs from OME med to heavy. Thanks to wombas, replacing lower control arms with MAF units.

Pulled the tranny in the 45 yesterday so it will officially not move under its own power. I guess I better get working on it.

Remind me, what's the plan?

Finished all my door panels for the 55 interior. Looks great!

I'm at the point where I'm ready to paint the interior. I need to decide if I'm going to keep it the root beer color or go back to the original green/white 2-tone color scheme. I'd like to paint the metal trim the same as the outside. If I paint it green inside, the exterior won't be painted to match for a year or more so it'll look weird. Then again, I'd like to only paint it once.

Do I keep it root beer or go back to green and white? Decisions...

I know it's not a stock color scheme, but I quite like the rootbeer.

So does the wife! Would make life much easier. Guess I could do that for now then do it a couple years down the road if I change my mind

Pull it apart to blast the frame and axles. 60 series powersteering and, rear disks rebuilt 2F, H55 and split case. 3.5" Alcans and 35x10.5.15 SSRs. All of the big parts I have slowly accumulated. Just need to put in the :wrench: time. Gonna start posting pictures soon.

I Replaced a hack-patched leaky oil pan with a cleaned up old one and new Toyota gasket, I'll also be replacing the front and rear main seals soon. I spent most of my time degreasing and cleaning the engine bay area; it still needs a lot more. I cleaned up and painted a couple of the rustier spots on the front of the frame. Drained the coolant and removed all the old hoses, I'm going to have to at least clean up and reseal the water pump and thermostat if not replace; all in all a fairly productive weekend on the 73.

Weekend wrenching

Been having some trouble with the welds on the frame I'm doing and it's driving me Nucking Futs. Had to take a weekends worth of welds back off, thank doG for the gouging tip on the plasma cutter. This time I sand blasted the frame, again, ground it with a flapper disc, then a S.S. wire cup brush and I'm still getting inclusions in the weld. Cleaned the welder inside and out, new tip and wire, adjusted the wire tension and checked gas flow. Started again and everything is working great until I'm about 80% done and then it happens again :bang::bang::bang:

So, we have a new blacksmith forge coming next weekend and we need to make room in the lean too outside. Moved the gas driven compressor to the back of the barn and plumbed the controls to the inside, no more going outside to start the compressor:clap: Next weekend we'll build a shed to cover it.

with the welding inclusions....you may want to try splashing prep-all on the frame and new scab plates. I found my frame to be really hard to clean for welding as well. I had luck removing the remaining oils with the prep-all.
