Well, I'll have my frame and axles back from the sandblaster early next week! YEAH! I am having the hardest time figuring out what chemical to do the axles and frame in. Thinking PC'ing the frame is too spendy. POR15 is good stuff from what I hear (Thanks Mike D.) Just a feeler thread, I guess.....I'll get the guts up to start my own "restore thread" here next week. Thanks for all the help!!! Its greatly appreciated!

I did a bunch of research on this a while back when I had my frame blasted and decided to go with Rust Bullet. But, I have never found the time to actually get it done.

I've looked at it and thought about it a lot here lately and decided that I am going to have mine powder coated instead. I have bought a variety of brushes, small mops and things used for dusting, etc. and I am still concerned about how good of a job I can do when it comes to the inside of those frame rails.

I am going to have mine powder coated by a business that makes grill guards, bumpers, headache racks, etc. and they are going to charge me $200.00.

If interested, I'll make you a deal on a gallon of Rust Bullet that has never been opened.

did you ever get your frame PC'ed? I heard that PC does not get into all the knocks and crannies, is thin on the edges and is brittle. what is your take. i need to know bc i am about ready to go one way or the other. PC seems nice bc someone else does the work and the cost is reasonable for a frame.

Another option if you took the time to sandblast and prep the frame anyway would be to paint it with a high quality paint and primer.

exactly what i was trying to say, so what brand of paint do you guys recommend. i agree that once my frame is blasted, i think a good primer and paint would last a long time. but i have never done any paint work so i am very unfamiliar with brands of paint. thanks for the help.

talk to your local paint store and they'll help you with what to buy.

They are supposedly going to PC my frame today, so I should be able to get it back early next week. It was supposed to be ready last week, but I am not about to rush them.

They say they will be able to get good coverage in all of the nooks and crannies and all over the inside of the frame by blowing extra powder in where necessary. I'll make a judgement call when I see the final results. I can always paint the frame over the PC if I don't feel the PC is sufficient, and I may do that. I just felt that PC was the best way to get coverage all over the inside of the frame, since I don't have reasonable access to get it galvanized.

check with mallred here, he had a frame powder coated last summer, I think.
