Mine is white with the beige flares, thinking about removing them. Thoughts? I know the Pimp is anti-flare, what about everybody else?

My 2000 is white with beige flares and I think they look awful.

I did some searching but was unable to find a write-up on how to remove the flares. I didnt see any discussion whether or not the paint beneath the flares will appear stock.

Anyone have experience with removing the flares???

well, mine's identical except that it's not two-toned at the bottom, only the running boards, bumpers, and flares are beige on the white truck

Just say NO!

I don't like the flares per se but I was thinking of doing Line-X on the fenders and rocker panels. They can match the paint color.

hmmm....how come you wanna take them off? Am I the ONLY one who likes the fender flares? Take em off and send em to me! Those are the ones I like!

I've got gray (or dark silver?) flares on my emerald green 99 TLC. Love 'em. I think the flares add a little interest to the 100's rather "slab-sided" profile.

But, that's just me.

I had them on, then removed them. There is still sticky residue from where I removed them, and some chiped paint from them. If you remove them don't expect perfect paint under them. With more work, or even proper removal (one of mine flew off on the highway, and another was torn off by concrete), it should be relatively easy to get it close to perfect.

As for looks, I prefer them off. I have 305 tires and w/ the flares on I could barley see b/t the tire top and the flare bottom. Removing them made more space and I thought made my cruiser appear to sit higher.

I'm not a fan of my flares, but I won't take them off. I've used them pretty well as tree and rock feelers and prefer to scratch and crack them rather than the fender itself. They actually have a reasonable amount of flex before they crack and although I've cracked 2 of them there appears to be no underlying damage to the fender.

I like the fenders too, but I havnt got any :frown: Searched the internet for some new ones. Found some in Iceland. "home made".
As the Icelanders say: If you don't have big tires under the flares, the cruiser would look stupid! I was thinking of getting 305/70R16 tires, but they might still be too small for the fenders.

I'm not a fan of any types of body kit. I vote to take them off. I don't have them, if i did, I would have removed them the same time I removed the running boards. Plastic body parts don't stay long on my vehicles.

I modify my earlier NO with a qualification that if the cladding is not painted then it can have an offroad purpose. If it is painted then its only good for :princess: :princess: :princess: .

My running boards stay because I actually step on them. If I bend them off road then I may remove them.

update: i killed my flares on saturday. the adhesive was a bitch and a half to get off sunday morning, but some patience, goof-off and elbow grease did the trick. thanks to all for your input!

So the paint if fine? Is goof-off the same as goo gone?

paint was perfect. goof-off is the same as goo-gone, etc. really strong adhesive remover. don't sniff it too much. used a little polishing compound and the paint finish was back to normal, as the goof-off has dulled the finish a bit right after application.
