@CBeckFJ not to take business away from kelly but if your had some damage your first trip, odds are it might continue. why repaint after the first offroading adventure? could be expensive to repaint after each off road trip. Pics of the damage?
Its mainly because I have acess to a body shop at the school and I can repaint it at little expense. A few body panels were already supposed to be painted so its not really a big expense. The truck will mostly be a Overlanding rig so trail use where it can be damaged will be far and few between.

@CBeckFJ sounds like a good deal! post pics of your repaint process so we can follow and possibly learn something.

I love my black 100 but if I were repainting I would go with a Sand dune color. Something lighter because black does every scratch.

I will be putting an ARB deluxe bar on my '05 LX in the next year, but i was wondering what the opinion was about color matching the bumper color with the dark grey color that the cladding has. Or should I color match the cladding to the black exterior paint. Thoughts?

I’d personally lean toward black, but I'd also be OK leaving the cladding as is, and plain black powder coating on the ARB.

Currently trying to decide between a ARB Deluxe, my choice, or a ARB Sahara, my dads choice. Wanted to get the fine folks of 'mud's input on this decision. The bottom portion of both bumpers would be painted the same grey as the side cladding.

I’d lean towards the 2003+ deluxe, but we spend a fair bit of time driving through the Texas hill country, where deer strikes are fairly common. Being a LX, you're probably going to have to deal with the antenna mount interfering with the LX grill.

To an extent more metal is nice. In low speed a solid bumper might help prevent some damage, but at higher speeds the bumper will transfer the energy to the next weakest leak, bending the frame without a doubt, and also transfer more energy to you, causing a higher chance of injury. That’s why I am a big fan of the aluminum bumper idea, a nice delta between strength and still yielding in the event of an accident.

Then again, the ARB frame mounts seem to be somewhat sacrificial on the 100 series (unlike they were on the older 80 series bars):

Yes, in a big enough accident, you would still bend the frame.

In a low speed accident with a "soft target", the ARB seems to hold up pretty well:

The 2003+ Deluxe is definitely going on. With the repaint, a grey ARB might not look too bad with the lighter blue and the cladding

Not to piss in anyone’s cornflakes but if you wheel your truck I don’t understand why you would paint it, if it’s a mall cruiser paint way I suppose.

Parts needed to be painted anyway ( Mirror and hood) for a front end swap project so we decided to get a quote for both the parts needed and the whole truck. It will primarily be an Overlanding and light wheeling truck so damage will be few and far between.

Same, my bumper will come unfinished (Dissent) so I could leave it, pay someone else to coat it, or do it myself. I grabbed some color matching paint for less than $100 that will cover all of it easily and I think it will look awesome. As much as I would love to be in the woods every day offroading unfortunately I will spend 99% of my miles driving on pavement.
