I just bought some used lego in Nanaimo for my kid and noticed a lj78 sitting in the backyard looking unused. Out of curiousity I asked the people about it and they said the engine was seized and it had been sitting a bit so the interior was moldy. The body looked pretty decent from 50’. If anyone is after a parts or project Prado it could be interesting and I could inquire or pass on the location.

Hey Jon, thanks for the offer. Owner is not necessarily interested in selling, but they have my contact info now though; so ball is in their court. Vehicle is not easily visible from road, so will just hold tight for now.

Not even sure what I'd do with it, lol. Just can't help myself. :)

So this just posted today. To be honest, it’s got a crappy build etiquett.
Let’s see where it goes. NO RESERVE

I’ve heard a lot of criticism over the years from purists for having a SBC, but my first $300 runner lasted 21 years and was an incredible engine. The replacement was another $300 runner that’s in 100x better shape… it’ll likely last till we are all driving Ever-ready electric cars. 😥

But Rover… seriously Rover. I can understand swapping Toyota drivetrain into a Rover, or an old Rover body onto a Toyota. Why use a Rover V8 to replace a reliable Toyota engine? I’ve never owned a Rover, but have seen them broker down in the middle of the road.

While they were at it, why not swap in an Exploder drivetrain? It’s make about as much sense. Poor castrated 60… someone needs to shoot it and put it out of its misery. 😭

Often thought one of these would be fun for those unused rails

Too bad this is a ferry away.

Must not be a good enough price… yet. If it was you’d be booking your reservation for the next boat. :D

That said, the ferry does suck. I remember seeing a complete 40 tub, primed, and ready for paint for $1500. Were it on the island I’d have gone to see it with a wad of cash in my pocket. Since it was in Vancouver, I didn’t jump on it and it was sold before I could decide if it was worth the money to go check it out.

Haha, well, in this market that is a great price. Here's same thing that's running for example: 1993 Toyota Landcruiser Prado EX LJ78 diesel - cars & trucks - by... - https://vancouver.craigslist.org/rds/cto/d/delta-east-central-1993-toyota/7421818428.html

It's more the hassle/cost of towing it over the ferries that is the issue.

Part of the reason I'm sort of on the look out, is the body on mine is getting pretty rusty. Should have got on it many years ago. This salt bath cold weather stuff is really not helping the situation.

Just make sure nothing has been underwater.

That nice set of drawers in the back of Nicks truck was in Vancouver, fug it, worth a ferry ride. I jumped on it, got it and
was home that night. It costs what it costs to get what you need or want.

Cost of a car hauler really adds to ferry cost tho.
