Been working on relocating my front camera. With the T13 and camera in stock location, the frot camera was basically useless unless I wanted to know if anything was just sitting on my bumper.

I played with different locations including a couple under the truck that provided views that showed the front tires that maybe could be useful in allowing the driver to see the front tire placement on a rock or something but probably would not be practical from a mud or potential damage perspective.

I ended up making a bracket out of slotted angle and mounting it in the winch control box hole on top of the bumper. I think I’ll still be able to add a future winch with a remote control box.

I used an ARB front camera relo kit for the wiring extension. That was pretty easy but you still have to pull the four wire pins out of the OEM connector and replace it with the ARB connector. For $60 I was expecting plug and play. Just splicing the wires would certainly be cheaper and not
that much harder.

Next is to design a cover for the camera that can be 3D printed and fab a better mounting bracket.

The projected tire path graphics line up pretty well. Here is a video of me using the camera to guide me in placing my drivers side front tire on a piece of 2x6.

Do you already have your bumper on? The 16+ T13 bumper is much shallower than the 08-15 bumper. Really no need for a camera relocate. The bumper only sticks out 4.5” from grill. I’ve had it on a few 200s and can see fine. The ARB sticks out like 10”, so there’s a relocate kit for those.

I have it on but also have 7" ARB lights. It's not bad but thought for $60 and some fabbing I could get it back to clear view. However I'm curious about the compensation in the view from the new location. Sorry for my ignorance...The camera is only for imagining right? It isn't used in helping calculate radar cruiser or lane keep assist, right? How about the satelite view is it affected if the camera is moved? Stoked on the bumper but man they could have at least ID'ed all the hardware.

For <2016 the camera is only for the image. It isn't part of the radar cruise control or collision avoidance system. I think that is the case for >2016 but don't know for sure. Maybe try unplugging the front camera or taping over it and see what happens is someone here can't confirm.

I could be wrong, but i think the camera is only for imaging on the 2016+ too. Isn't there a separate sensor behind the toyota logo that is uses for adaptive cruise? My tacoma has adaptive cruise and auto brights, but no camera. I think they are two different systems, but I guess i haven't looked behind the emblem to see if it has the same sensor as my tacoma.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure you are correct & will check. Also have a Tesla & it uses the cameras for everything.

Stoked on the bumper but what a project. It's like building an erector set....definitely more work than the ARB on my 100.

For sure. I just finished installing my ARB front bumper on the 2021. I think it took me about 18 hours (alone). A couple of steps I did twice due to misunderstanding the instructions and nervousness about cutting into a brand new vehicle. - poorly lit pictures of an Aussie series truck didn't help either. Definately much more difficult than installing the ARB bumper on my fj40.

18 hours??!! My ARB just arrived for my 2021 LC, at a shop across town where I can work on it alone. I'm headed over right now to unbox it and see what I've got. Might not start on it today, can't get home with my truck in pieces. I'll see what I've got and perhaps hit it early tomorrow morning.

The ARB on my 80 was one piece, the ARB on my 100 was brackets and bumper. Hopefully this won't be all that much more. Taking the stock bumper off is probably my biggest concern, not sure what kind of fasteners I'll be battling.

This last winter my Toyota grill emblem would get a thin layer of slush on it, and I would lose cruise control and other features. Seemed like it was just the emblem and not the camera, I have another camera in the windshield that might do the lane-keeping nanny stuff. Which sucks on snow-covered roads, it wants me to follow the ruts instead of the road. I might install a separate headlight washer system for the emblem. If the bumper camera is also needed to have cruise control, I'll have to add another sprayer for that. Apparently Toyota engineers have never driven in the midwest in the winter.

FYI .. there is a back door on the NAV menus to adjust the camera lines after you move it.
Ooh, tell me more about how to do this?

@scottm you’ll probably be faster than me. I took my time because I didn’t want to make a mistake. I’m not a mechanic, but I’ve taken a rig to have something like this done before and they often give it to the rookie so the experienced mechanics can do other work. So I figured if it’s gonna be a rookie I’d rather have it be me. I’m sure that’s not true at a shop that specializes in cruisers but no way one of my local shops has experience with installing these on a 200. But yeah, lots of parts, some wiring looms to tap into and test. Removing the stock bumper and other parts was a piece of cake so don’t worry about that.

btw, my 2021 HE had some wires that are different colors than the instructions on the camera relocate. Handy to take pictures before you disassemble so you can put it back together on the new harness the same. Same on the fog lights, LH and RH are opposite instructions since they were written for Aussie trucks. The positions of wires and what they controlled in the ARB instructions were accurate, despite colors being different.

PM me if you have questions.

Pretty much ditto the TJM bumper. Just way more pieces & steps than the 100 bumper.
