I picked up this bad boy today from Sierra Expeditions. A big thanks to Wil for getting me this bumper.

The bumper fits perfectly in the back of your cruiser even when 1/2 loaded with a car seat, 12" sub box, and 50qt fridge.

Its heavy and awkward but if you put your back into it. Its a one man lift and a one man install.

The bumper is extremely well packed with some thick density foam, bubble wrap and card board. Unwrapping it took me longer than the install.

The OEM bumper is dead simple to remove 4 small bolts hold it to the frame.

Another 4 bolts to remove the 2 tow points

Here is a look at the bumper from the back side. As you can see it has an integrated skid plate to protect the AC dryer. Its the only bumper that I have seen for the 80 that has this integrated. A big plus in my book.

The accessories on the bumper are very straight forward installs. The lights, solenoid box mount, winch spacers, and removable side wings are all included and attached with bolts.

With a strong dead lift curl you can lift the bumper and rest it on the frame while you install the attaching bolts. It attaches with 5 bolts on each side plus the 2 OEM bumper bolts and one long bolt that goes through the frame for maximum security.

Here are a couple of shots after the install. There is a ton of space for any size winch and with the added spacers and hardware a winch install should be a breeze.

First impressions it is very solid and well built. My vehicle is my DD so front end protection to me is very important. It doesn't seem to hang as low as other production bumpers. It has all of the hardware and spacers for attaching a number of different winches. It has an integrated AC dryer skid plate. The powder coating looks very good and durable. Removable wings for more aggressive terrain. I really like it and I am very happy with my purchase. I cant wait to get a winch now!

For a bull bar, that tucks in surprisingly well.

Hard to tell just from pics, but that AC skid plate doesn't look like serious protection. Will protect from a light bump, but I don't think it'll do much if you drop off a rock onto it....

Still, every little bit helps.

That is a really good looking bumper. Would like to see some better daytime photos of the truck and bumper when you have time. Thanks for posting up!

X2 on great looking bumper... Did you put the factory recovery hooks back?? Also, do you have any pics of the "Removeable Wings"

How much does this bumper cost? I couldn't find it on thier website anywhere.

Great looking bumper...I have always been a fan of the TJM and am glad they are once again available in the States

Man that was QUICK... the bumper looks great, Jesus! Looking forward to seeing some more pics of the bumper in the day and in person next time you swing into the shop.

We do not have them on our site yet, but they run $880.

I agree.

It looks like an ARB .. like the winch space .. plenty of room and access to winch and cable .. good ! plus on the skid plate for AC drier ..

Mine is sitting at the freight depot in dallas, will be picking it up tomorrow. Honestly I was thinking they replaced this one with the newer style shown on the website but I learned that the 80 is still the "old style". It's still a good looking bumper, I just liked how "tucked" the winch is on the newer ones especially if you're not installing a winch right away. And since my winch needs have dropped a bunch since moving from AZ to TX I guess I'll have to decide what to do after I pick it up. I guess I can cover the top hole with the stupid front license plate the "man" keeps me down with. ;)

BTW, I bought mine from Ben up at Slee...$880 plus shipping to Tejas.

Great looking bumper. I am also looking into this one. I like the extra protection it gives.
Couldn't tell from the pictures on my phone, but that wouldn't be ACUs you're wearing, would it? Good to see more military on this site.

Phxtlc,
Does Slee sell them all the time, or was this a special order?
That would save me the shipping cost.

Mine was shipped directly from LA. I don't think Slee is stocking them yet, give Ben a call.

Phxtlc,
Thanks. I'll give them a call.

I snapped a few photos after work today of a few more angles. I hope to get some really good day time pictures this weekend.

I re-installed the factory hooks. You don't have to do this because the bumper comes with new bolts to replace the OEM ones. The wings are attached by 3 bolts and have a full gasket between them to prevent metal to metal contact. The wings and bumper are also a box design so if you plan to remove them for some hard core rock crawling or going flare less it wont look weird because the ends are boxed in and finished.

Very close ABU's, I'm active duty AF. As soon as I got the call from Wil that my TJM bumper arrived I headed straight over to Sierra Expeditions to pick it up. As soon as I got home I didn't bother changing just took of my top switched into my Merrell's and got to work on the install. I was just so hype to have a new bumper!

Can't decide if I like ARB better or the TJM. :hhmm:
Built in AC Dryer protection, more winch options, more ground clearance, winch spacers included, No low hanging skirt, supporting local business/MUD Supporting Vendor, a little different bull bar from the common ARB?

I figured as much. Thought it was either or. I'm active duty Army.

My sentiments exactly. I am really looking hard at this one. It's between this and the Ironman.
