I'm planning on ordering a set of tires and rims for my 07 trd fj within the week to finally upgrade from the stock 265s and get some 33s to match my toytec 3in. Ive decided on 17 in method standard wheels and I really like the 295/70/17 open country mts but I'm hesitant to buy them because of the weight. The bfg and Mickey Thomson mt's in comparable sizes are over 10 pounds apiece lighter according to national tire and wheel. Is it worth getting something other than the open country because of weight?

I have a set of the Open Country M/T's, and I wish they were lighter. They are a 10 ply tire. It could make a difference I failed to give consideration.
Good luck.

Would you buy them again?

Yeah, for the diesel 60, cause it weighs alot. I just am putting a 13BT into my FJ40. I'll probably go back to Interco Swampers on it, I'm thinking TRxUs MT's. They are a nice radial, and perform really well.

Well I pulled the trigger on a set of 295 open country's and a set of 17 xd hoss wheels with the -12 offset. They'll be on tomorrow and I'm going on a little bit of a road trip Saturday so I'll post up afterwards

I have a set of Toyos OC MT and put about 30K miles on 'em .. I'm more than happy and yes they are heavy, but yes I will buy 'em again ..

I"m sure you'll be happy with them. Good choice on wheels as well, be nice to see the pics.

Ill be sure to post em up. Tomorrow is going to be a long day waiting for the new tires at the end..

I would have tried to find a 6 ply tire for an FJC, unless you're doing stuff with the truck that justifies all that extra sidewall. It will ride stiffer for sure, but some people like that. I'm sure it will look great, in for pics!

I have the toyo mt's on my 100 series and find it stiff, however, I run a heavy spring and bumpers etc. I don't mind dealing with stiffness and extra weight for relatively bullitproof sidewalls. Picked them up this winter so only snow to play in. Mud to come after spring thaw.

Sorry for the iPhone pics but these tires look awesome! I'm definitely glad I went with what I did. The hight, width, rim width and offset are perfect. Theyre black 17 in -12 offset xd hoss wheels and 295/70/17 toyo open country mt's. I had pretty much the perfect opportunity to road test them today and they perform as good as they look. Got to run them at highway speeds on dry pavement, wet, and it even snowed here in SC today!! The tires were great, not very loud for as aggressive as they are, only a slight mpg drop over my stocker bfg a/t's! They balanced well with very little weight and ride extremely smooth with very little tracking. They are a little stiff but I think they have to much air in them, I'll have to check tomorrow. Also the wet traction was excellent, maybe better then the bfgs. And if they live up to the 70 to 80 thousand miles people are claiming I think this tire is hard to beat. I can't wait to get them in the dirt now!
